A few years ago my mum and dad were invited to a wedding and dad wanted to wear highland dress, but couldn't find one in Forbes tartan so wore Black Watch instead. First time we'd seen him in the kilt and he looked AMAZING! Thanks Black Watch for coming to the rescue. Sadly my mum passed away two weeks after and dad passed away five years ago. I miss them both and thank them for instilling in me the pride of being a Scot. Hope to be back home in Aberdeen before too long. xxxxx♥️♥️♥️

Many tartans are more universal than some people think. Black Watch is okay whether you served or not. Even over on our side of the pond, the General MacArthur museum sells a bit of MacArthur tartan. Though I doubt ol' Doug personally ever sported the plaid.

Black Watch is not a clan. It was a collection of 'watch' companies set up after the first Jacobite Rebellion. The 'watch' companies were taken from Clans Grant, Munro, Fraser of Lovat, and Campbell (😡) . The 42nd Highland Regiment of Foot was known as The Black Watch also, and is nowadays the 3rd battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. Not a clan.

The Black Watch are not carrying any weapons in this video, The Black Watch, (correct name, 3 SCOTS, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland) provide the band. The other soldiers are members of 5 SCOTS, Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion, RRos. Balaklava are the ceremonial unit of the RRoS and provide the Royal Guard. As they do not have a band, the remaining Battalion Pipe Bands take it in turn to represent the regiment at Balmoral.
