Lady in the orange was making a poor point. These women are seeking the highest end black men on the market. About 10% of black men fit the category she is referring too. But all of these comments are saying, "Black men" not "10% of Black Men" You know for a fact brothas would be down with these women. We hear absentee father as an excuse etc but that does not fly. Black women need to take a self reflexive gaze at themselves. And question why they cannot keep men. The fact that they cannot take that gaze is deeply damaging. Every black man is not just leaving black women because these women are black or because they are in fact themselves losers.

@AshTheOne You do realize that premature death and incarceration are demographically significant realities for black men, right? We are so programmed to settle on the narrative of the black man who is not present in his children's lives because he is irresponsible that we fail to observe that a significant number of black men aren't in the picture because they're dead or locked in cement cages against their will (sometimes through no fault of their own). We can't, on one hand, say that we suffer racial oppression from things that primarily but not exclusively harm black men like the criminal justice system and gun crime when its time to advocate for things like affirmative action, voting rights, etc. then turn around and deny the impact of the criminal justice system when we want to make black women look good at black men's expense.

I have always wanted a black man, but the more I grow, especially as a single mother raising a black man, I don’t believe black men feel the same about us as black women. So I’m dealing with now, leaving black men be--allowing myself to love them how they want to be loved, and that’s from a distance. My love and respect for the black man will not trump my love and self respect for myself. I deserve happiness and allowing myself to love any man regardless of their race is my next step.

Interracial relationships come with their own set of unique problems related to socialization, culture, class, group identity, ethnicity & race. Black men & black women have never really had time to themselves in America. A place where white people interfere into every aspect of their lives. Perhaps Black Americans should collectively return to Africa, rebuilding their relationships, families & communities from the ground up as they rebuild industries? Time for a homeland.

@@ctruth6185 Not realistic at this point in history. The world is fully globalized. The weakness of the black community has always been its embrace of dysfunction and rejection of high culture. And those in the community that embrace high culture are generally kicked out of the community, attacked by the community, or destroyed by the community. The white race doesn't thrive from having a "homeland". It thrives by embracing high culture and rejecting dysfunction (thought that is starting to change these days).

@@commonsenseprevails1433 y'all really need to stop with all the lying. There are tons of black man fighting for social change . Y'all can't change anything without us. Those are black men not black women. Black Panthers, gangs who use to protect black communities from the police, black Muslims, civil activist lawyers, etc fighting for our right have mostly been BM. Even today when we protest for injustice they call out the entire police force and the national guard to attempt to stop not black women but black men. BM are the ones that strike fear in the hearts of powerful white elite. We have been getting locked up and even being killed for justice of black people. So you can say that BS to the BW that will believe that garbage you talking about. What blows my mind is that y'all running around talkin about you're strong, independent, don't need a man but then cry about us not protecting you. The way BW have always been protected is by getting married but now y'all file 80% of the divorces and talk about how y'all prefer to be single. Also BM are not crying because ghetto chicks are not picking us. We are simply responding to the BW who are crying about the BM they are willingly choosing. All we are saying if you don't want a man that's going to run off on his kids, broke, or abusive then stop picking those type of black men. Because most black men will be in there child life, would not abuse women, and have jobs making middle class income. I am a black man and growing up I had several encounters where I was “too dark” to date a black girl because the preferences at the time for many of them was “light skin with curly hair” or the Latino boys. To that, this colorist view is not just perpetuated by black men it is an issue for the black community at large. I am from NY and live in DC so this discussion seems baseless as I see nothing but thriving black relationships and love all around me. However, I have been educated that depending on your geographical location in America that this argument can have some merit. For instance, I have two lady friends, one from Cali and the other from Minnesota, who said the black men there largely dates non-black women. However, I do find it odd that when you ask a black women to expand on this theory of “black men not dating black women” the reference point is usually some celebrity relationship (such as the case with the first speaker). It’s clear that there are black men that don’t have an affinity for darker skinned black women but the data shows that the overwhelming majority of black men are still courting black women. It’s funny that this discussion is being had on a network owned by a women who in my opinion clearly has a vendetta against black men. In summary, don’t drink the cool aid and love yourself.

This resonates with me, I'm with a white man (husband), but I always thought I'd be with a black man. I personally didn't want to deal with the rejection forever. I have family goals, wants and desires that felt like they were never going to be met or would be met, but with tentative strings attached (hair has to be like 'this', can't gain weight, speak properly or how they believe I should, act a certain way etc.) Those are some of the examples I've had while dating black men, or mixed (black and white) men, and if its not that it was a certain air of 'I should be grateful for the opportunity to have a black man' like they were doing ME a favor, a fully-fledged educated tax-paying woman. I had to let my idea go and pursue what was good for me, which - as I say FOR ME - was someone who loves supports and wants me and understands me. As A Whole.

@purenoire
@purenoire 5 жыл бұрын
@@docshay7328 oh gosh, sorry if it mislead you in that way. I most definitely did not settle, anything but in fact. Just to clarify my point was that the image in my mind was just there as an presumed view of my self from the outside world perspective, and whilst I tried to attain that, it was (for me) not worth the constant backlash from the black males I received. Therefore, I reevaluated my wants, needs and desires realising that what I want, need and desire does not have to come in a certain package and my previous precieved preference was in fact not my own but an idea I had conformed to. With that in mind I opened up my 'dating pool' which allowed me to continue to date black men, and other ethnicities with the only prerequisite of being "handsome/attractive" which thankfully lead me to a man who fulfills my wants, needs and desires and I am blessed enough to call my husband. Thanks for your reply though, at least I've been able to explain and clear up your confusion.

@purenoire
@purenoire 4 жыл бұрын
@@AllPro777 AllPro777 not all males have this "expectation". My role as the feminine in the relationship isn't to be dictated to. Moreover, my mannerisms or appearance are not masculine or dominant. That's a large assumption on your part. None of what I've stated has indicated that. My hair, speech and other aspects are part of me as a whole. I dont believe a relationship should be built on one or the others demands, feminine or masculine it should be based on something bigger (compatibility, consideration, mutual respect). The second lady with the short hair was so contradictory.. first off she says that no black men wanted her, only white man were attracted to her, but then she says that she only wants to black men because black man are there for her and they understand her.. what kind of sense does that make? If people don't want you, I don't care how much they look like you or how much shared trauma you have. Go for the people who actually love you and appreciate you.

This is one of the most - inadvertently - honest conservations I've heard from black women. "Black men don't want us" really translates to "(Influential, Successful) Black men aren't validating us by granting us the first right of refusal." Makes me wonder if they actually want black men or simply validation?...And if they get the type of validation they want, then what? I admit I'm taking a slight jump in reasoning, but validation is one of those things that has to continually "one-up" itself. So okay, we designate them our top choice by promoting and selecting dark skinned black women when we're at our most successful and at the prime of our influence and desirability, then what? Will we see some perfect "Black Love Utopia?" I suspect not really. It'll most likely then shift to Universal Validation where they're now seeking the status they believe other groups of women have - the first right of refusal for ALL successful, powerful, and influential men. Starts to look and sound quite narcissistic if you think about it long enough 🤔.

At the end of the day men are men. I’ve dealt with rejection from black men and it’s hard. What I’ve gained from these experiences is to be more open. A great guy can come in any race so I get to know the ones that reach out to me and treat me with respect and dignity.

Trey Diggz I just don’t believe in convincing others of your worth. Black or white. The right person will see your value. If a black guy is not attracted to me because of my hair, he wasn’t for me. Think we all have preferences, and that’s ok. Everybody is not meant for you. But I’m not passing up viable options, just so I can be with someone who looks like me ???
