My KEY2 has aged amazingly well. Same power house as on day one. Something that is always ignored is the unique capability of this device for remote accessing a pc. What this phone can do getting you on your computer while you're on the go no other phone can. It also has a capability I wish my V40 had, and it beats it on its own department: it has a developer option to broadcast over usb-c at 16:9; just amazing! Me being a huge soccer fan being able to stream and put on the bigger screen all my games at home, office, or hotel room with the most stable method possible at the standard picture format is priceless.
@badiyee5 жыл бұрын
wait, now i'm interested. Remote accessing a PC? and Broadcast over USB-C at 16:9? Does the phone screen mirrors (portrait mode) when you broadcast or does it go landscape mode (in the phone and tv? or just tv = landscape, phone = portrait mode) when you broadcast? I'm genuinely curious and I want to know!

@pauldiaz47695 жыл бұрын
@@badiyee it can broadcast portrait too. In that case I recommend not switching to 16:9. Any phone can remotely access a PC. What makes the difference is having the hardware keyboard. @badiyee5 жыл бұрын
@@pauldiaz4769 Now this is something new to me. I wonder, if there's a way to have portrait mode in the phone, but when broadcasted (as in tethered) to the TV, what's shown in TV is landscape, but the phone still retains portrait mode? That'll be dope.

every iteration of the Key2 gets better. Users who own multiple units (from the silver edition, to the black edition, and then the red edition) have reported that there is a slight hardware change (like the keyboards are getting better with each "tock" upgrade (in the tick-tock cycle). However, the best take for me, just to repeat it, is that this long term review has cemented a notion that if I can afford two phones, this has to be one of it for what I need in a phone. Then get another phone that's not a glass sandwich for the features I want and be happy that both complements each another. and there's just one more thing. "This is not just some clumsy keyboard clip on. You CAN NOT recreate this (keyboard) experience with some plasticky accesory". That's savage! I'm having so much laughs and giggles. I see what you did there!

Been using it for over 6 months and it performs the same manner in which it did when I took it out of the box. Good enough for everything but for heavy gaming (Seriously would you even try gaming on this screen?) The camera is really bad at low lights and pretty decent during the day. The Keyboard is a breeze and trust me on it. The double tap to move the cursor, left swipe to delete, scrolling, speed key, bigger and clicky keys and double space for full stop makes the experience so good. The battery lasts an eternity. The security is top notch and the build quality is phenomenal and often I have found myself using my phone for typing mails and documents for which I used a laptop earlier. And the icing on the cake is the reaction of people seeing someone using a Blackberry in 2019. People think I mean business :p

This is a device meant for those who have serious work to accomplish. By that I mean email, text, etc. Every time I read a review where it talks about the fact that is has round corners vs square corners--what are people doing? The one I got came with a lot of apps that I would never use so I just deleted them. I don't play games, watch videos, listen to music; I have more to do in my life. As someone who taught Marketing and wrote a couple of marketing texts, that is the biggest problem facing TCL. Why are aren't they advertising this phone? Why don't they advertise using actual users shown bragging about their Key2? I challenged a friend to show me what he can do that I can't do on my Blackberry. Nada! I do think that the Key2 is somewhat overprices however if you shop around there items available new at the $800 Canadian price. I will never understand why anybody will pay $1500 for a phone which will be out of date in a year. Remember the expression "A fool and his/her money are easily parted." Give credit to Samsung and Apple with their great advertising and promotion.

@@SomeGadgetGuy Yes, the overwhelming majority of KEY2's produced in 2019 and later have had a revised spacebar that feels firm as it should. This includes pretty much all of the Red ones. I recently got a Black Hong Kong dual SIM -6 model with a build date of 02/19/2020 and spacebar is solid, and the rest of the keys feel more matte and have a different click than the 2018 units.

I didn't upgrade from the KEYone to the key2 because at the time the key2 didn't seem like THAT much of an upgrade. Plus it was WAY too soon. I upgrade every 3yrs or so. The fact that we have zero word from both Blackberry and TCL....not even a key2 upgrade to pie is concerning to say the least. I just hope that a key3 comes out, I can't switch to the slabs of glass.

That's a pretty good review. But I'm kinda disappointed in 1 thing: Security patches, you are right that not every patch might needed - but as BlackBerry switched to Android, they promised their customers to push EVERY(!) patch / OS update within 2 days to the handsets. Fastest patches for any Android handset that is not made by Google. So they failed to deliver that promise...

I just pulled it back out again to run the newest security patch. Such a damn good communicator.

Your reviews are always fair and great! Thanks for this video!! I'm a KEYone user, thinking about upgrading to the KEY2. Productivity and security are priority in a smartphone. Love BlackBerry for that! What is the stylist you're using on 2:56?

My father's LG stylo2 still works very well despite having a hole in the corner of the screen and I cannot find any new phone with that much "ruggedness" and reliability.

Was thinking of getting him the note 8, but I'm certain that phone won't last a week in his workplace. Lol

Maybe an Active? If he needs something RATED tough, there are still Kyocera and CAT floating around.

Another LG phone lol

I would recommend the CAT phones if you want something sturdy but my LG G7 have been doing just fine with an otter box case. Anything with a curved display is a death sentence and OLED screens burn in eventually so the lack of durability seems to be getting worse as time goes by.

Subbed right away after seeing this video. Was in my bucket list but changed because of poor specs with that of its price. Most importantly, its after sales support. Had a terrible experience after purchasing BB Classic !!

Just came back to this video after hearing the news from Crackberry, that Blackberry has partnered with a new manufacturer. Apparently the phone is going to be 5G and, of course, it's going to have a physical keyboard!! It's going to arrive in 2021!!

I hope so? Onward Mobility doesn't look like a real company...

@@SomeGadgetGuy Yeah, i'm not too sure on all of the details, but i'm currently watching the Crackberry podcast for more information on the matter.

I'm a bit disappointed that there's nothing technical to entice more Patron pledging. I know I'd throw some money if there was focus of Profile GPU Rendering. Some touch latency and frequency graphs.

Never been something i was into. I do camera and audio tech. If you're out there supporting the folks who do that kind of benching, they'll keep doing it. If they've stopped, it's likely because feeding YT good content isn't worth it.

They only thing that holding me back is the processor
@BDot965 жыл бұрын
I have one. Has it's downsides but speed isn't one of them. It's fast enough for everything besides intensive games. If the processor were to be upgraded, battery life would surely take a hit. Not worth the processor upgrade imo.
