Blackgang Chine Vlog May 2018

Blackgang Chine is the oldest amusement park in the UK and is located on the Isle Of Wight. The park first opened in 1843 and is named after a now destroyed coastal ravine. In this vlog we visit Blackgang Chine for the first time and discover the different themed areas that make up this land of imagination.
The park is home to only 3 rides, however these are just an extra in comparison to the magnificent themed lands across the park. These different lands are full of interactive exhibits, walk-through attractions and some very impressive theming. In this vlog we explore The Underwater Kingdom, Cowboy Town, Restricted Area 5, Rumpus Mansion and much more along with having plenty of laughs along the way.

they recently got rid of The Weather Wizard and the liquorice house I believe. They still have dinosaurs but not the ones you can climb on anymore.

I have been there many times. In the early 80's, the park was so much bigger. The cowboy town was a huge attraction in its own right. Alas, the majority of it has fallen into the sea, but this has not stopped the owners from providing a worthwhile family attraction! Great for youngsters! I was terrified of the Weather Wizard - I never spoke about him due to his threat to send a cloud to rain on you if you told anyone about him 😂 I grew up on the Island and loved Blackgang Chine. Rumpus Mansion was my favourite which weirdly never scared me. Growing up on the Island (which is a bit weird in a good way in many places) in the 80s with Blackgang and films like Labyrinth left me with an intensely vivid imagination!

It's gone?! 😫 I'm going there next month with my friend and her kids. I used to loooove that bit. I'm so happy Rumpus Mansion is still there though, that was my favourite. So scary, but also so magical, I loved the Celtic music towards the end, just made is so magical. I swear I'm more excited that the kids 😂

This park really reminds me of the Forbidden Corner in Yorkshire! It's very similar with lots of highly themed walkthroughs, with animatronics, hidden lore, and a great creepy vibe that terrified me as a kid! Well worth looking into visiting if you enjoyed it here so much.

Hi Shawn, another great vlog with Alex, looks like you had the park to yourselves, shame looking at the erosion pics as I've been there in 1975 and 86 ,I remember the wild west area and didn't know it fell into the sea ,also remember my father getting lost in the hedge maze ,very fond memories ,good to see that the park is still going strong ,keep up the good work ,that underwater area looks amazing .the dinosaurs looked very scary back in 75 Shawn.

Went to Blackgang Chine as a kid and totally loved it. All the dinosaurs used to be statues. Now they're animatronics. I can remember the Nursery Land too. Its nice to see it again on your video!

Loved your Blog. I've been going to the IOW since a child from 1976, and always visited Blackgang Chine. Obviously it's changed a hell of a lot through the years due to cliff falls and land movement. Bit it's how they move attractions and keep creating new areas every year that keeps this magical place so wonderful. The history of Blackgang Chine is what makes it such an exclusive theme park, and it will be a very sad day when, eventually it will close it's doors for the last time, hopefully not for many years tho. If you search Blackgang Chine on KZbin there are many many videos of the Chine going back many many years, so you get to see what it used to be like, and get a scale of how much land has been lost, and how they have adapted over the last 175 years. Look forward to seeing the video of your return 👍

I went here when area 5 first came out I think it was 3 years ago and I can remember being 10 going around the park being absolutely amazed because of all the animatronics. My mum tried to make me and my little brother who was 7 at the time go in rumpus mansion and we couldn’t as it was too scary. It’s amazing to see how many memories this takes me back to like being at the top of cliff hanger and seeing all the views and some things have changed: there used to be a dodo enclosure by the crooked house and u could press buttons and the dodos would do different things like blowing up tnt, there was no underwater adventure, the hall of mirrors used to be a run down pub that told u more about the history I think, the cowboy town had less buildings, there was a fairy quest somewhere where u had to look around at the different season fairy’s. Thanks to this video it has made me really happy because I can remember a really good day of my life and hopefully after my holiday this year to somewhere else we can come back to isle of white and visit black gang chine once again

This video was awesome! I live on the island so we get the frequent visitor passes to go to the parks. The park is amazing at night as the whole park is lit up and they have firework displays and laser shows it is amazing. The park changes almost every year as the cliff slips and so they have to keep moving parts back or leaving them to slip away. It is such a good park 😄😄

This place is iconic childhood! I remember going in about 2009 or 2010 and loving the pet shop, i used to say that the donkey was my pet and i always sang the song that the animals hummed😂 as for the crooked house that was just traumatic😂its so nice to see that they havent changed the pet shop in particular because i loved that!

Went to this place so many times during the 80's and 90's loved this place, unfortunatly as of this year the cliff edge is now about 10 meters from the maze edge.

Went there with school in 1994 months after one of the big landslides, was great fun as a kid in the 90's, amazing how attractions like the pet shop and crooked house are still there and unaltered, as a kid, seeing the attractions that had gone over the edge in the landslide seemed exciting too. As an adult though, it's sad that it is on an ever decreasing coastline and always under threat of such natural decay, lets hope the park lives on a long time and nature is kind to it.

This brings back so many memories. I've been there twice in 1990 when I was 4 and '98 when I was 12. We had a similar thing in Southend-on-sea called 'Never Never Land' which had various fairytale attractions but it closed down in the early 2000's. But some parts of it still remain like the castle fountain.

Man recently found the channel absolutely love it theme parks are magic they really do transport you to another world for the day everyone is there to have a fun day it creates such a good vibe. You should do a viewers meet at a park sometime if you haven't already would love to meet you guys and girls and spend a day on the rides with other theme park addicts :-)

It does remind me of the Fairytale Forest in the Efteling. Like you said, Efteling is an indepentent organization aswell and it really leaves alot of room for weirdness. Also , smaller budgets usuallly cause alot of creativity and it really shows here. Looks like a park I would have really enjoyed as a kid as i did the Efteling (And myself and my 10 year old still do! )

Blackgang Chine is so cool and unique! A park that seems similar and you should do a vlog of is Sundown Adventureland in Retford, UK. They have a bunch of classic themed attractions and dark rides and it's one of the UK parks that you haven't done yet.
