Soul, R&B, Pop, Jazz, Sam could sing it all. Check out a great biography of him titled, "Dream Boogie, the Triumph of Sam Cooke", by Peter Guralnick. It's virtually an encyclopedia on the man, his music and his short life. A great read for all the Sam Cooke fans out there. 👍

Faaar from helping to solve the mystery, it just rubbed salt into old wounds, albeit inadvertently, so I don’t intend any malicious feeling against the channel. I’ve never seen it before, & wish the channel success. It cannot be chided for dishonesty & disrespect-& that says a lot for a Hollywood content page!! 🌷🌼 However, why was Ms. James’ photo used in correlation to a discussion about Sam Cooke’s infidelity? Why do reporters STILL treat him as a suspect for checking into a motel overnight?? HE didn’t shoot anyone & was unarmed, his clothes & his wallet STOLEN by that “witness” Boyer, who was with him in his room, by her own admission!! The fans & music-lovers community of Sam Cooke all know who he had been in life. They know how brilliant a composer, producer, performer/singer, director, & music business impresario he should always have been recognized for being, but wasn’t. That $30K sounds like a “payoff” more than a settlement for damages. ALL of the damages & losses were Mr. Cooke’s & his family’s-not his killer(s)’ losses. Franklin chose to shoot him after Alyssa Boyer robbed him, & he appealed to Ms. Bertha Franklin for help-by her admission. Performers cheat on their spouses & cheat themselves out of better living routinely. But only one ethnic group of performers is routinely reported about as if they deserved to be killed-which is what that lawsuit settlement implied. What was “justifiable” about anyone shooting a man angry about his stolen belongings?? What was the real response level when he demanded that something be done that might have been helpful? Why wouldn’t a “manager” know how to manage a de-escalation of a personal crisis until the police or another employee could arrive? It’s nice to enlist Sam Cooke’s many accomplishments. It’s a nice article to share his history & bio with “a wider audience.” But considering how many of them don’t believe that 100 years after legal enslavement Nonwhite people were still being treated as if they were slaves, or that they still are being mis-treated systematically, whether consciously or subconsciously, in most instances of ordinary people, to some degree or another; And considering how many still “think” the same way people “thought” then, I don’t particularly believe in GIVING them any Nonwhite history they don’t look up themselves. They’ve fought for the past nine (9) years to “conserve” themselves from learning any of it anyway. Even during President Obama’s terms ‘ President Bush’s terms, book-bannings & other forms of omission & silencing were being publicly demanded. Since much is being made of Sam Cooke’s legacy, what’s been done in the meantime to restore it, his masters, and his production rights to their rightful owners-his own family? How did they benefit materially from a biopic-after decades-about his life, using his own music, re-recorded? Is there a conservatorship seeing to it that his children & grandchildren get their rightful royalties and first-choices on who can use his images, his recordings, his tracks, published or unpublished?? Because if there’s NO Sam Cooke current story about how that’s being managed now, then he is STILL someone else’s “property” in Systemic Injustice/Racism. Still being brutally (if no longer violently) abused & exploited, & so are his descendants, his legal heirs. Who is representing them, protecting them, & seeing to it that the Cooke Family cannot be cheated and taken advantage-of anymore? I sincerely hope that someone is doing so. If not, the title of this vlog shouldn’t be “Hollywood doesn’t want this Info out” or “Sam the Man, he “knew too much.” “Knew too much” has a double-entendre with Nonwhite people, ALWAYS has. It SHOULD be “How Hollywood still profits off Nonwhite people’s effective subjugation,” & is proud of doing so 160 years after legalized trafficking & enslavement of people “ended,” uncorrected, unchecked-& richer than ever. Not even any type of atonement/remittance has ever been required by ANYBODY. It was a decent vlog, overall. Just exceptionally short-sighted & didn’t solve any mysteries except for people with no idea who Sam Cooke was in life. He deserved a lot better then and deserves even more now-because of AI, if because of nothing else. He died Unjustly and mich too young. It’s a national & a global loss that anyone caused him to. It’s an insult & a dishonor to his legacy if his family haven’t been greatly compensated by that industry, & by the motel owners of record. ⚖️🕯⚖️🕯⚖️💙⚖️🕯⚖️🕯⚖️ ♥️🕯⚖️🕯⚖️

All we have are theories. No one will ever know what really happened. Sooooo sad!!!! He was definitely before his time as far as his business sense and being a black man in that era. He accomplished so much in his short lifetime. I do believe someone may have beaten him. Even in pictures in his casket you can see his fingers look like they were broken. Even Etta James says it looked like he was beaten. Just imagine how much more successful he would have been if this hadn't happened. They didn't investigate enough. I do believe what Mohammed Ali said was true. If it had been someone like Frank Sinatra they would have been more thorough.

An interesting presentation with a few facts included that you don't hear about very often, but the timeline is all over the place and not chronological so it makes things confusing. There are quite a few inaccuracies as well. Example: You discuss Bertha Franklin in several places but you show a photo of Elisa Boyer. Also, the title of the video is pure click bait. Hollywood (I assume meaning the entertainment industry) did not leave Sam's murder "unsolved" and you never attempt to present an answer to your own question. But it's impossible to have a discussion about this with an AI voice so I'll leave it at that.

Sam Cook hooked up with this Eurasian woman in this motel. He started to abuse her in their room. The manager of motel was a middle aged black woman. The woman who Sam was ruffing up escaped room and ran to lobby with Sam chasing her. That’s when manager took her hand gun and shot him. Never mentioned if woman was charged. This was published in Jet magazine when it occurred.

I can't confirm the part about Sam abusing this woman, but she was a floozie who took off with his pants and wallet, and Sam attacked the manager, saying "where is she?" and thinking the manager was hiding her. The manager had nothing to do with it, and was either attacked or threatened enough that she shot Sam. Sam's wife knew how Sam was, and not only did she "not want this delved into" as stated above, she also married Bobby Womack three months later. When you are cattin' around, you get a shorter grieving period.

Personally, I don't believe Sam Cooke's was the result of some "conspiracy" as have been claimed. He wasn't killed because certain Whites were jealous or fearful of his fame and business savvy; there have and continues to be other Black performers who have been just as successful if not more so. For example, James Brown, who was a contemporary of Cooke, was also a successful Black artist and entrepreneur; at the height of his fame he owned his own jet and helicopter, owned several radio stations, owned several businesses and made money off of his music too. Yet no one to my knowledge ever conspired to kill him just because he was a successful Black entertainer. Sam Cooke's tragic and untimely demise was the result of an illicit encounter all gone wrong. By the admission of his closest associates, Sam had a thing for prostitutes and he would often go to nearby nightclubs where he knew there would be such women to pick them up for sexual purposes, often going to some nearby hotel. It didn't matter whether he lived in or knew the area or not, when a man picks up a prostitute for sex, he doesn't care where they go to do it, whether in a sleazy or classy hotel or car or wherever. He just ran into the wrong one, who ran off with his pants, which had five thousand dollars in them, or maybe a little less, considering his spendthrift habits and charming women, especially prostitutes, and in his drunken state he encountered the owner of the hotel whom he got into a scuffle with, in which to protect herself shot him and reportedly beat him with a broom, or at least that's how it was reported in the media at the time. Don't get me wrong, I love Sam Cooke's music, he was a music legend indeed, but he wasn't an angel, unlike many performers of his genre.
