Cheers Blackie. Brilliant video. I'm ex British Para & we used some meen knots for to put up some tarps(basha's). Use tarps & bashas alot these days sleeping out so.e weekends down on the moors. THIS VID EVERYONE, shows a frightfully simple combination of two great knots we all know to make a quick set up even faster. Can't think why I never thought of that myself before Blackie. As we say here GOOD JOB. WELL DONE MARRA (FREIND)

Good technique and tip Blackie! One of the biggest advantage of a prusick over a taut line hitch is the additional loop which causes additional friction, and is more likely to remain in place under tension.
@BLACKIETHOMAS3 жыл бұрын
you are correct plus it will adjust easy
@TheJacov3 жыл бұрын
Here's a helpful hint for those using especially slippery cord. When you tie the prussic loop, instead of just making three turns, go 4, 5, or 6. Doing this greatly increases the friction so it grabs the line better. This applies to friction knots in general, the more turns, the more friction. Hope this helps!

Way Cool....I always added a prusik when needed from some spare looped paracord, nice to utilize the end of a bowline to create a very versatile and pre-prusik extention grab & go. Southern Man as per Neil Young....Cheers!

Great idea. I will be making up several of these. Try dipping the paranoid in boiling water for about 20 seconds and let them dry out. I have done this when making paranoid boot laces. It helps the paranoid to grip better.

Wonderful. Let me try this as parachute cord instead of paranoid cord. Although at times it does seem more appropriate.

I love this idea. I did make one little change. I put a poachers noose on the end that normally would have the prusik. It restricts and stays tight when under pressure just as the prusik does. I put the toggle on line with the noose behind the knot and it makes the cord highly functional. Thanks again for the video, Blackie. edit: Went back to using the prusik. The poachers noose doesn't want to stay stable when under pressure.

Just found your videos. Ive been wanting to set up the prussic guy but was making it too complicated on myself. I really like how this allows someone to get rid of the metal or plastic hardware and just use the rope, saving a few grams, while being just as functional. Thanks for the tip on wrapping the line around the stake for stuffing.... Ive definitely been one to try and leave the line on the tarp an not loved how stuffing/rolling with the lines resulted.

Damn Glad I watched this to the end. I thought you were going to add extra cordage to the line with a separate line Prussic. Now I see the incorporation of the Prussic into the same line. COOL. Way Better than a Taught Line Hitch. I am going to tie mine with a larger Bowland on the end to do a pass through though. Then no toggle will be necessary. Camp ground thinking not just out in the woods thoughts. Since I do both. Thanks for the information, I like this all in one system. Wa

great videos Blackke! Just happened upon your channel, but have watched a bunch of you vidos. very goodd stuff, and well done. i like the quick guyline - although ive used something similar, i never thought to take the loop off the tree and carry it around like that great idea! Fwiw, something ive been using lately is the fairmond friction hitch...it would replace your prusik + bowline with one knot, and can be made quick realease (but secure.) Ive used it on the anchor side of a ridgeline with a truckers hitch on the other end and actually broken the cord on the truckers slip knot without the friction hitch slipping. its basically just a prusik with a different ending method. Anyway im suscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your vids.

Blacky when you are burning the ends of your line after blowing out the flame touch the burned end on either your lighter metal parts or your knife blade to instantly cool the burned line. Dang Mocking Birds always have to interrupt everything we have to do.

Great advice Blackie, much appreciated. I'm kinda new to all these different knots. even though I'm not new to camping. I have a question (forgive my stupidity) Is there a standard basic length of the loop that you make your prussic knot? I'm trying to set up a quick and easy tarp ridgeline using paracord for the ridgeline and No. 36 Bankline for the the 2 prussic loops, just like your video on the quick ridgeline. Thanks. 👍
@BLACKIETHOMAS3 жыл бұрын
i am sure some math guy will tell you there is..but for me its trial and error i will do a loop test fit too small i will re tie when i find rough correct size i will make a mental note and go from there

Blackie, I don't see you use Navy shotline. I use it for everything requiring small cordage. What I am talking about is Mil-L-18925 nylon cord used for connecting lines between ships after being carried to the terminus by a rubber grenade fired from an M-14 (and yes the Navy still uses M-14s).

The question I have is, why not use the tent stake that you have to help make the knot? I find the stakes are much more accessible than finding sticks or a straw to feed the line-just my opinion. Not everyone has stakes that have a channel.

Climbers call this a "Purcell Prusik", your minimum length of 3 ft. can be cut in half to 18" by just folding it in half. Climbers use these to make adjustable "Personal Anchors". Mike.

My dad started hunting with a 22 410 over and under I recently came across one at my local gun store what do you think of the 410 for a woods gun?
@Curtislow23 жыл бұрын
Dear Cover your own A, I had a friend that dear hunted with a similar type rifle. It was a .223 over 20ga. He Only did head shot on deer and the other was for turkey hunting. He loved it. It made sense he was not a firearm enthusiast ,so it fit his purpose. Unless you need a larger caliber for protection from bear you should do well. Just my 2 cents.

Blackie, this question is a little off topic from what you are covering here but on one of your 'Percussion Revolver" videos you show using a kit to make up paper cartridges. I had a , maybe dumb, question concerning the construction but here goes. When you do the loading of the chamber with individual components you used wads, yes? Is not the chance of 'chain fire' still the same with paper cartridge's as with individual components? If so, why do you not put a wad in the paper cartridge? For that matter, why do you not use some 'soy wax pearls' in the powder of the paper cartridge as well? Maybe I'm missing something other than the limited space inside the paper cartridge tube. Can you let me and others know? Thanks for your time, sir. Matt
@BLACKIETHOMAS3 жыл бұрын
hey not a bad question at all..the paper of the ctg acts like the wad to seal the chamber and i will often add a few soy wax pearls in for a bit extra lube down bore
