I’ve been standing at the anvil, swinging a hammer at hot iron and steel for 35 years, most of that time doing reproduction work for museums and reenactors. I have dozens and dozens of books on the subject and I’ll be dead honest, this was the first time I’ve seen the weld done that way to make a three legged base! That was just jaw dropping simple and such a great solution to what can be a very frustrating weld! What an awesome job and great technique. After seeing this, I know I’ve seen that weld covered in some of my books, but not to make a three legged base. Thank you!!!! Just goes to show how useful old dogs never stop learning!!! Thanks again!

I saw that technique, and it blew my mind. never thought to try it that way. In my head it was always just *scarf bar, *weld on another bar, *spread bars.
