Really nice project. An alternative I would like to add for hanging mirrors or picture frames is the often forgotten French cleat. It can be made in the shop for cheap and it allows the project to sit perfectly flush on the wall. Your videos are at the top of my must watch list. Your explanations are clear and you speed up the video through the “paint drying” portions. Very well done. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time.

Hey Cam, huge fan of your stuff and really love these mirrors. I’m currently in the process of building one which is a bit bigger, 83”x36” with a slab of spalted magnolia. I was curious if you’ve made any of these mirrors that are larger like that and what you might do differently for a larger piece. The slab is currently about 1.5” thick, which is much thicker than what you used and I don’t have a bandsaw that could do the resaw work. Any help is greatly appreciated, Happy New Year!

I think I’d prefer thinner pieces of wood surrounding the mirror to make it more functional. It would also save a bit of good wood for other projects

Great video 👍 would you ever try holding the mirror in tight with some sort of hardware in case someone breaks it? Seems like gluing it in means you are screwed, but if its removable it could be replaced. thanks for the video

I've watched nearly all of these videos and love them all but I don't see one on a floating shelf. I'm looking at installing a couple of floating shelves in my house but I'm not too keen on drilling out some big holes into the shelf so I might just mount some brackets on the bottom.

I have a big olive slab which im going to cut in half put a big mirror in between. i wanted to ask what's the best and safest way to install it, since the risk of the mirror shattering is big. Should i reinforce it with big bars on the back?

I have a couple of questions about building a mirror like this. I noticed the rabbits you cut on the back side of each live edge was rather large. Is there a recommended width for this? Also, I found a mirror adhesive online (Amazon) specifically for mirrors, Loctite PL 520 Mirror Adhesive. Could I use this to attach the mirror to the live edge or should I use clear silicone? Thanks for your help.

The silicone is gonna breathe really well. Not sure how much flexibility the mastic has. The wood is gonna move seasonally.

He said that dark silicone is not ideal, because You can see the reflection of dark through the mirror. Mirrors are transparent to some point that you do not notice it on daily basis
