The lilie barro transformation is indeed goofy looking , but like most transformations in bleach they are symbolic .In this state he is presented as a Seraphim Angel & like he said he is one closest to God . Although, going from a sniper to a biblical ángel is crazy bro called in the ultimate scorestreak 😂 gotta love bleach lore .

If you remember in fullbring arc, Ichigo learned how to 'see' spiritual pressure from Ginjo by force. There's several instances where spiritual pressure was depicted to certain character; like Ichigo with hollow mask, kenpachi with skeleton warrior , yachiru with aggressive cat etc. So, shunsui solidified his spiritual pressure as afterimage of himself is a top tier skill. Also as we know, his shikai makes children's game reality and it can change to another game just like that. So, he is showing his mastery of his shikai by changing shadow-based game like kageoni and kageokuri after daruma-san without the enemy notice. Lastly, when Lille open his eye, he is intangible , a sword or anything, run past him, couldn't scratch him even . So , him exploded in the bankai sea, is because of the thread from Shunsui, straggled his neck.

regarding Lille (Ziliel), he's a seraphim (bibilically accurate angel's) depiction, I can't wait for yall to see the later eps XD regarding Shunsui's bankai, it performs plays this one was called the theatre su cide, based on a real play where two lovers try to commit su cide at the end of the story, you can get more interpretations out of Shunsui's narration from this now. (also there are ways to get out of his bankai through the in play ways but that's left upto interpretations eg. If Lille didn't try to escape the final act would not start and whoever would lose all their spiritual pressure first would lose/d e)

Where are people getting this idea that there are ways out? Never once does he say this or even hint at it. He is doing nothing more then explaining what the play is. Lot seem to be misunderstanding this. If there were ways out why is he always so worried about his friends getting caught in it. That is why he doesn’t use it much. He is worried because if they get caught there is no way out.

All the sternritter take on angelic wings and halos in volstandig The explanation for why Lille is so extreme and takes on a more biblical look of an angel is he's the closest to God's power The left hand, Pernida, was claimed by Yhwach in the flashback meeting with Ichibei so it's assumed Yhwach gave it its sentience at some point
@darknesswave1006 күн бұрын
A couple of things of explanation seem to be in order. First of all when kyoraku activated his bankai the noise you hear (the YOOOOOOOOO) is typically used as a signal of the start of a performance. The Shinju part in Katenkyokotsu Karamatsu Shinju means a performance. His bankai is based pretty heavily on a play called the Lover's Suicide at Sonezaki. It's a tragedy where a man injures a woman he cares about (act 1), falls down and gets an incurable disease (act 2) then they throw themselves into a river to unalive themselves (act 3) but then because of what the man did she slices his throat before he can drown (the final act) One more thing is what Kyoraku called Katen (the woman that appeared). He called her Ohana which means flower or beautiful. It's a shortened version of her actual name Katen which means Heavenly Flower. He was using it as a term of endearment. It's like a nickname for her. She was also the little girl with the red nails that grabbed his hand when he talked about once the games start theres no stopping them. Katen didn't like the name because in her own words "you hardly play with me" which is a reference to the fact that Kyoraku never uses his bankai because its an AOE type (area of effect) that drags others into it. So in her mind he shouldnt use that name because he must not really mean it because he never uses his bankai so she cant appear with him. Oh and before he activated it he mentions he's back to where they first arrived but then apologies to Nanao because she might get caught up in it. When the golden light went everywhere that wasnt them getting caught in it, that was just to signify the activation. There's a line that Orihime says about it being cold and she can't stop trembling that was cut from the episode. In the manga when he activates his bankai the entire area goes dark. Which is why Kyoraku asks if Lille is feeling loneliness and despair. The light we see is for us only so we can see what's happening

Simple explanations without spoilers: -Shunsui’s shikai turns children’s games into reality (there’s never a limit given how how many it can be but he does say himself in fake Karakura that his sword chooses the games, not him) -Shunsui’s Bankai turns theater plays into reality (once again, it’s never stated how many theater plays he may have in his arsenal or the extents he can go to with them but the people in the immediate area are forced into his plays. That’s why he says “Sorry if you get dragged into this Nanao” and it’s why Ukitake stopped him from using in against Starrk. -a lot of people are letting Lille’s Voll Stern Dich fly over their heads, listen to his dialogue about being the closest to god and being his messenger, that’s the tell that he’s supposed to be a Seraphim -people say “well it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t look cool.” ….it isn’t supposed to look cool, it’s supposed to be grotesque, the reaction of “ewww” is what Kubo wanted. The ultimate servant and masterpiece of a twisted god wouldn’t be pretty. -when Shunsui is explaining children’s games and you see the shadows, the one that grabs his hand IS his Zanpakuto’s spirit in Shikai and was supposed to foreshadow the second half of the episode -that foreshadowing alongside past iterations of “Tensa Zangetsu” kind of explain how Zanpakuto spirits function in their spiritual forms depending on release stage. -Some Shikai might turn younger upon Bankai release (Tensa). Some Zanpakuto who take the form of a child in Shikai grow older upon Bankai release as shown with Shunsui’s. We don’t get many examples but we do get a few throughout the series.

The famous phrase "be not afraid" exists for a reason. Biblical angels are all terrifying to look at. Their true forms aren't for human eyes to look at; you might either go blind us, or die from looking at them directly. That's why they show themselves as winged people. And even then, they'd still have to reassure you that they won't hurt you.

So the afterimage thing needs an analogy to explain. I dont know if anyone else has made a similar comparison, but imagine you looking at a bright source of light with your naked eye. For example, the sun. If you look at it even for just a second or two, the afterimage of the sun simply sears (or prints) into your eyes. You see the persistent image of the sun even if you start looking away. Shunsui's shikai works in similar manner where his spiritual pressure is so intense that it leaves a persistent image (or solidifying his reikaku). Its a general extension of that effect that you have experienced in real life.
@Thyme-Lord226 күн бұрын
Well the Bankai is like playing out a famous Japanese theater play. It's the same story that's referenced on Greenbull's tattoo in One Piece. The Double Lover's Suicide story. You can look it up for more info on the details of what happens in that play but he's essentially playing the story out. Since his Shikai turns children's games into reality, his Bankai takes adult entertainment and makes it reality, a very mature story about two lovers who go through the emotional wringer, with the enemy playing the affected character who is just forced to experience it. There are supposedly ways of escaping being affected by certain acts of the play, which involves some of the actual story beats in the play if you know it, but Lillie didn't and fell into all of them. As far as I know none of this is a spoiler, and all of it was in the manga except for the weird yellow color that encompassed the area around him.

As people said here Kyoraku's bankai is a traditional Japanese theatrical play. This particular play was about a man who hurt his woman. Lilie plays man and Kyoraku plays woman. Man and woman are in the relationship, so they share their wounds (act 1, Lilie get the same wounds that he gave Kyoraku). Lilie could avoid act 1 if he never wounded Kyoraku (But obviously he didn't know). Man regrets hurting his woman so he becomes ill (act 2, Lilie now is all covered in black spots). Lilie subconsciously realises that if he never wounded Kyoraku, he himself would be unwounded, so he regrets that he wounded Kyoraku; Probably if he didn't regret wounding Kyoraku, act 2 wouldn't take his effect, because it requires man to regret that he hurt the woman. Man and woman after everything that was wrong with their relationship are doing double suicide as their last act of love for each other. They promise to each other that at list they will die together. Man though at his last moment after they threw themselves into the water selfishly tries to survive and get out of the water, screwing his woman once again, and breaking their promise. (act 3, Lilie and Kyoraku drowning loosing their reatsu, but Lilie is trying to escape) Probably if Lilie never tried to get out of the water he would survive, both their reatsu would be drained and Kyoraku's play would end on act 3. Woman realises how pathetic her man is. And the man gets his well deserved punishment. (act 4, Kyoraku kills Lilie with a string around his neck, probably symbolising that the man in this play did survive and got out of the water, but just like in act 2 he regrets his decision, so he hangs himself). As I already said, probably, if Lilie didn't try to get out of the water, then there would be no act 4. That's my Kyoraku's bankai explanation

Shunsui’s move that had a long explanation is red light green light yeah every country has a different name for it. The other game doesn’t have an English equivalent it’s a game about standing in the light at putting your shadow on a wall or something. That’s the game that left the afterimages. Calling it an afterimage was a bit confusing since it’s more complicated than that. His Shikai is children’s entertainment. His bankai is adult entertainment: it’s a play. And not just any play it’s based on a pretty famous 16th century play called sonezaki shinju. The English name would get you demonetized for continuing the word beginning with su-. It’s a dark play without a happy ending. Imagine a more gruesome and depressing Romeo and Juliet. Thing to note: that zanpakuto spirit first ever appeared in a filler arc. Before ever showing up in canon. The zanpakuto rebellion arc you skipped had a few cool zanpakuto spirit designs. Most of them weren’t made canon but this one was. Lille is based on biblically accurate angels I’m sure you’ve seen the memes they aren’t all pretty like in modern pop culture they’re abstract and crazy looking to put fear into the hearts of demons. The last 2 fights have been in the manga we’re in manga territory now the animators had their fun.

15:23 Off topic but this poem at the end is very cool. Every line in the poem ends with the Japanese syllable て(pronounced "te"). It's wordplay for the word 手(te) meaning "hand" in Japanese. There are 5 lines ending in the syllable "te", one for each finger of a hand. This is perfect for the episode "Baby Hold Your *Hand* " There's more to the poem than that but in general Kubo's poems are very creative, it's just so hard to translate them to English while keeping the wordplay and meanings. All of them take at least a paragraph to fully explain lmao As always yalls discussion is the best part!

shun shuis shikai is children games, you play according to the rules his bankai tho is a theatrical play, the narrative is the rules. this is why jushiro stopped him from using his bankai in the stark fight. its too dangerous to be used when friendlies are nearby a more "comprehensive" translation: act 1: two lovers are fighting the man (lile) hits the woman (shun shui). the wound is the shared between them act 2: the man feels guilty about hurting the woman. the feeling of deep guilt makes him feel sick act 3: the lovers decide to just end it all by drowning themselves but the man once again betray her act 4: the woman has had enough of him mistreating her so she kills him yeah the bankai is pretty sinister in concept. shun sui can also use other theatrical plays but it must fit the situation he is in
