I saw that one too! unfortunately that was for a different nurbs software - it's called rhinocerous and had a plugin called grasshopper which was the nodes. it's a paid software package although the plugins are usually open source. I mistakenly looked at that one hoping itd show me how to map the voronoi over complex shapes in blender. they're really similar but you can do a lot more in blender and affordably :) hope you found what you were after

I love the simplicity and your teaching. You made this easy. WOuld you use a booleaned or hollow cylinder to make a bracelet?
@luxxeon3d5 жыл бұрын
Thankyou for commenting. If you're asking if I would use a boolean on this particular model in order to make a bracelet from it, the answer would be no. There is a way to create voronoi patterns without booleans in the shape of a torus or some other ring-like surface instead, which would be far more beneficial for making bracelets. In fact, I will add that as an idea for a future tutorial. I have one or two more lined up first, but keep an eye out for a new voronoi style bracelet video very soon. That's a great idea.

Hey, thanks for the great explanation! So I succeeded applying this method on the sphere but I wanted to use a 3D model of something else and apply this method to make this object a shell.... However when I do this I get very long spikes with long protrusions out of the actual object...Do you know what is going wrong there?
@giovanniarghenini54334 жыл бұрын
Hi Luxxeon, is it possible to make the voronoi gradual? I'd like to make a voronoi skull, just with full surfaces around the mouth and the eye orbits, and all the rest holed, starting from tiny cavities with huge ones on the other side.
@luxxeon3d4 жыл бұрын
It's possible to some degree, but really it would involve much more than the techniques I have shown here in this video. It would require a much different workflow, and perhaps some addons would be useful, like Tissue addon. It would also require a specific topology for the skull to start with. Delaunay triangulation would perhaps make the process easier to achieve, and then of course driving some of the modifiers with gradient ramps or vertex weights. I think Tissue would be the most productive way to go about it, but it would be more complex than I can explain here.

Probably a bit pedestrian of a comment, but moving the object in edit mode causes some "flatening" problems in the mesh. Moving it in Object mode seems ok tho.

Thank you for your support! The shader used for the animated sequence was really very simple. It is a Principled Shader with SSS enabled and a PBR noise map in the normals channel to create the subtle bumps. The environment lighting is a high res HDR with some area lights placed strategically around to enhance the shadows. I think the SSS helped to bring out the realism here, and I also used a roughness texture which was a variation of the normals texture to help with the specularity. Ambient Occlusion and Screen Space Reflections were also enabled in Eevee, and I increased the distance radius of the Ambient Occlusion parameter to a rather large amount to get more realistic contact shading. When I switched over to Cycles just to compare the results, there wasn't much noticeable difference at all, even though the render time in Eevee was around 1-tenth the Cycles render.
@dankuzmenka2615 жыл бұрын
@@luxxeon3d Thanks so much for the quick and very detailed reply! I had suspected it was SSS.....it turned out very cool.....
