Kirk, I bought a house built in 1951 out here in Neptune Beach Florida. I’ve been researching doing my own stucco job and now I’m addicted to your channel!!! I have a very weathered and course dash finish on concrete block. There are several bad bubbles near the bottom and there are cracks from settling. I want a light Dash finish. Should I just clean and stucco over or take a concrete grinder and grind down to start fresh from the original block? Any advice would be appreciated! Keep up the good work

Good evening Iron car. Of course, it's possible to resurface your existing heavy stucco with a smooth texture without breaking off any old stuff off.😉 You hire a plastering contractor to do this; it just takes a bit of practice. Our channel teaching how to do many things with stucco, but changing heavy stucco textures to smooth finishes is not something one can learn by watching a video: way too many important things to consider, best wishes. Love your channel and I have a multi facet question/dilemma...Our stucco home was built in '39 and had a bad paint job some time back,,,maybe 60's? Then someone came through and did an acrylic plaster top coat with blue glue, around the 70's-80's+/- Question is I think the whole thing needs scraping off(it's mostly coming off in sheets 1sqft or bigger) and then power wash the paint. Is power washing sufficient or what else should be done prior to re-coat? I will hire out the new finish to a plastering company. I really trust your expertise and want to make sure that whom ever I hire does it right. It's a learning curve living in a new city where I know no one or their reputation other than the local masonry supplier's recommendation. So far, I have one guy that seems Ok and he wants to re-coat it with acrylic by Stone Stolite or Omega. Thanks in advance, Brian

I've got about 35-40 square feet of 100 year old plaster and lath to replace. First batch set up in a few minutes and couldn't use it. Researched baking soda to retard . Still too sloppy or too thick. Doesn't look anything like yours. Any advice is appreciated from the plaster master . I'm using plaster of paris. And not sure if this is the right forum for questions but I'm desperate. Thanks.

@@claytonray6756 Hi Ray, no worries, you should be using structo-lite for the base coat it sets in 3 to 5 hours. They do have accelerators to set it as fast as you can trowel it. "Google plastering yards near me, to purchase it." Structo-lite is a base coat that can be applied up to an inch thick but very gluey, if you try to finish it will drag unless you keep your trowel blade wet. Plaster of Paris is used by doctors also for setting bones in cast's as yes it does indeed set fast. About 15 minutes.
