@angelawilkinson8869 I'm not quite sure how it happened, I think it was already blind when it came to the sanctuary. Probably from the "abuser" who owned him before? Maybe someone else knows more?

​@@angelawilkinson8869Jokia was a logging elephant. After losing her baby she became distraught and couldn't work. Her mahoot intentionally shot her eyes out with a sling shot to punish her behavior. Also unfortunate, this behavior is not uncommon. Thank you for asking. Im sure its shocking to this. But Please stick around to ask more questions so other people can learn how these animals are treated and help make it stop. The way it is, is not the way it has to be! Ever.
