The Percy moment is so much more than it seems like on the surface, Whitestone is all Percy has left of his family, it's his home and he fought for it. And he gave a piece of it to Vex

@@mr.stuffdoer8483 Even more insane when you realize Taliesin came up with it on the spot. If you go back and watch the footage, the moment Vox Machina meets Syldor, Taliesin only pays half attention to what's going on. You'll see him constantly looking down at the table. That's because during the entire conversation, he was running through known titles in Whitestone that he and Matt came up with, who has them, which are available, and trying to mix and match them to create one that makes sense for Vex. Then he came up with Grand Mistress of The Grey Hunt, realized that the last person to hold that title was killed by The Briarwoods, and was like, "That'll do." And that's why everyone was surprised, even Matt. Because even Taliesin didn't know he was going to do that until he heard Matt speak as Syldor and he was like, "Ok all of the Fuck You." I also love that Percy, the Lord who never wanted the responsibility of the title, was like, "Oh you think you're hot shit? You think your position means something? Well I'm a motherfuckin' LORD and don't you fuckin' forget it, peasant!"

Vex: "My heart is someone else's!" I absolutely love that line and the relationship being blossoming between Percy and Vex. The way they talk to each other is adorable, but then there are the more subtle things, like how Vex picks up the arrowhead Percy gave her before picking up the vestige, or how Percy gave her the title, "Lady of Whitestone". He values his home of Whitestone more than anything, so by giving her that high title, he's basically saying that he wants her to be a part of it. The other most important part of his life.

That was quite a vindicating moment for me because I knew that it developed over time in the campaign, but I started feeling from the beginning of LOVM the series that it seemed like they were hinting that Vex has been in love with Percy for a while...however, I also felt like maybe I was just projecting since I knew the ending. But then with Vex yelling "My heart is someone else's!" *smash cut to Percy*....I was just like, "Omg I was right!"

One interesting thing that came up in the campaign wrap up and is not a spoiler for the show is, that Vex had the option of taking the deal with Saundor. In exchange she would become bound to him and he would be her patron. Regarding romances, we do know that Liam (Vax's player) did ask Matthew (their DM) if it was okay to try and romance with Keyleth, since Marisha (Keyleth's player) and Matthew were dating at the time (they're married now), and going to assume he asked the table how they felt about romances between PC's as well. Even in a close knit group like theirs, they ask permission first, as one should. And now they have had romances in all 3 of their campaigns. But of course, Critical Role is not exactly your average D&D group.
@mr.stuffdoer8483 Жыл бұрын
And then Travis was the one to enjoy the Vex/Percy romance the most, despite Laura being his wife. That man legit shipped them as hard as the fans do.
@haku8135 Жыл бұрын
Specifically, Laura has romanced unromanceable characters in ALL 3 campaigns. She's unstoppable. Even DEATH isn't stopping her!
@chrisd704710 ай бұрын
I've been playing ttrpgs for 35 years, and romances between PCs have been exceedingly rare. But, to your point about CR not being the typical group, not only are they all professional actors for whom drama is second nature, the group is also a nearly 50/50 split men and women. My group is a sausage fest. Needless to say, the guys aren't romancing each other (not saying there's anything wrong if it happens, only that it's unlikely to occur at a table full of straight guys who are drama-averse engineer-types). And even in groups where there is a mix, the real life couples tend to stay coupled up in the game. This once again highlights the uniqueness of Critical Role being actors. I've played at least 2 video games where Laura Bailey played my love interest (Skyrim and TellTale Batman, and in Batman, you swipe her out from under a character voiced by TRAVIS!!). They're used to people flirting with their spouse, and they have careers spent learning to separate the acting work roles from real life, so the campaign romances are practically second nature. For them, it's just watching their spouse in a play that includes one of their friends; of course they trust them. The entire thing is a remarkable example of them being the right people in the right place at the right time.

@@haku8135 Yeeaaah....I know that's what multiple members of the CR cast has said, but I don't buy it! ****SPOILERS for LOVM and all CR campaigns including current one***** 1. Percy. I do actually believe that Talesin wasn't necessarily planning romance to be a part of the character's arc. However, Percy was not at all unromanceable. In fact, he got the most romantic interest of all the PCs! Ashely Johnson said that Pike had a crush on Percy (to which Talesin said that Percy was oblivious). Taryon Darrington said that that Percy was the type of man he'd like to marry some day. Sure that doesn't mean he meant Percy, but, let's face it, you don't say that about a person without to some level admitting that you like them and could have romantic feelings for them in different circumstances. Even Vax (ahem, bathtub scene), I know that Liam said he wouldn't have been against the idea but that things developed more organically with his character and Keyleth, and that Laura already kind of claimed Percy for Vex. But that there was early on a moment of who's going to go after Percy. There were also a couple moments with NPCs, and numerous fans who find him appealing. I mean you can't really call a character unromanceable when he got the most interest in a group that includes two people who were described by their own players as hot elf twins, since that would normally be catnip to fantasy fans! 2. Fjord. Let's face it, the only reason that Fjord was 'unromanceable' was that Travis doesn't want his characters to do romance. Otherwise, there's no reason that Fjord as a character, without taking Travis' feelings on romance in to account, would be considered unromanceable. And I have a personal conspiracy theory that Travis knew from the start that he'd eventually give in and do in-game romance with Laura in campaign 2 since she was determined to make it happen, he just decided to make her work hard for it and put it off for as long as he possibly could! Otherwise, why else would he make a character who's not only a handsome half-orc, but handsome in the way that's exactly Laura's type? If he really didn't want to do romance, he had so many options for making a character that's unromanceable! Once of which he did in campaign 3, making a character (two actually!) that are stereotypical cranky elderly people. He also could have made a character who is already married and had to hide their family away for their safety like Nott. He even had an out with Fjord when Nott assumed that him becoming a Paladin meant he had to take a vow of celibacy. That certainly would have made him unromanceable! As he was, though, Fjord wasn't actually at all unromanceable. 3. Finally, Laudna. Laudna actually comes closest to actually being unromanceable since she's undead and that automatically makes for a level of weirdness. However, the way that Imogen and Laudna were from the very beginning of Campaign 3. They way they spoke about each other, and to each other, and acted together. I know Laura said she thought that Marisha might say "no" when she had Imogen ask to kiss Laudna, and that Marisha was shocked that anyone went there with Laudna but...I just don't believe it. Not from either of them. They had to somewhat realize what they were doing! I mean just that rock fight in episodes 23-26. Erika Iishi caught on right away and, really, did a lot to call it out. And in the conversations about Imogen and Laudna's fight you could see it the looks on Ashely, and Travis, and Talesin, and Sam's faces! They knew what was up. Additionally, I felt a couple times early on that Talesin might be making moves for Ashton and Laudna to become a thing. They were getting very close for a while there, and, before Imodna happened, seemed a lot closer and more in sync than Ashton and Fearne. So I feel like he might have been open to it if Laura and Marisha hadn't been open to pulling the trigger on Imogen and Laudna.
@sandpiperr5 ай бұрын
@@haku8135 Second comment. One thing I do like, though, is that Laura has been described as a universal donor when it comes to romance and Marisha a universal receiver. In that, the trend seems to be that Laura does the romancing as her characters and Marisha tends to be the one who has other characters romance hers! I'd say Beau is the exception because she did pursue Yasha, but we saw Liam shock TF out of Marisha with the Vax love confession, and, eventhough I feel like Laura and Marisha had more of an inkling than they say, Marisha was surprised when Laura finally went for it. And, honestly, I hope this trend continues. Because I'd like to see them just collect all of the others like Pokemons. Particularly I hope the trend of Marisha making characters that the other PCs decide their character would pursue romantically. I feel like Talesin is the mosty likely next candidate since he and Marisha always have great in-game interaction, and, again, that he might have been open to the possibilty between Laudna and Ashton early on. However, Travis would obviously be the greatest triumph. I mean if a character of his pursued one of Marisha's characters, that'd be even more impressive than Laura romancing his chracter, since he's the no romance guy! If there's a campaign 4 and it has any romances, my hope is that Talesin and Marisha are next and maybe Laura and Ashley.

@ForeverDegenerate Жыл бұрын
That's because in the Campaign, the Twins had visited home since they left. In the Animated Series, it's outright stated that this was the first time they've been home since they left. So the situations are a bit difference and, thus, it makes sense that Syldor, in the Animated Series, still views them as he did when they were children. Given that difference, it makes sense that, in the Campaign, Syldor accepted Percy at face value when he was like, "I'm the Lord of Whitestone." In the Animated Series, it makes sense that Syldor never completely bought it when Percy said it and that he didn't really care simply because he's got proximity bias against Vex and Vax. Syldor Campaign: "Oh! You have friends. And one of them is the Lord of Whitestone. Who just gave you a Royal Title. Ok, I'm impressed." Syldor Animated Series: "You are friends with MY children? Pfah! You must be as worthless as they are, Lord or not!"
