FYI - instead of just watching your current height go up until it stops, look at the gauge below the ball, where it shows your "AP" and "PE" - "AP" is your project apoapsis, or the maximum height your rocket will reach before heading back to the ground. So, at 3:31, instead of guessing you might get to 7600, etc., you can see at a glance that your apoapsis will be 8200m. Hope that helps!

If you de-couple you should wait to fire the second stage after you've achieved greater height- All you were doing by adding more thrusters was increasing your vertical speed, which would be used to get you higher after you de-couple and before the second burn

if I'm not mistaken there's a bug currently where whenever a firing engine is occluded (i.e. something right under it basically) it creates massive thrust in the opposite direction. Matt Lowne used this to build a hyper-efficient SSTO with a single rapier mounted at the front of the nose, but it's likely slowing you down as you speculated around the 15 minute mark.

Yes you put a rapier backwards and then put a nose cone 2 pixels in front of it and it creates forward thrust

Blitz as far as i know the heavier smt is the more does gravity pull on it --> u need more fuel which increases weight wich means u need even more fuel. I think thats why the bigger rockets u built the slower they get(which doesnt mean ure vids arent fun to watch). Maybe try to build as small as possible and get to the moon works better? Anyway nice video love ure channel!

Adding more sepratrons to the same stage pushes you closer to the state of just being one giant sepratron. If a sepratron, disconnected from everything, can't reach space on its own than a ship that is one giant sepratron won't either. Tying two of the same firework together and lighting both simultaneously doesn't make them fly any further, for example. This is why SSTO vehicles are so difficult to payload - because most available mass is already taken up by fuel+engine.

If you want to get max height, it’s probably best to wait until you’re at the top of the current stages trajectory before turning engines on for the next stage

Don’t know much about math or all the possibilities with space and atmosphere but isn’t just stacking the same thing going to give you diminishing returns? Like most of your separators fire at the same time so the amount of speed wouldn’t really increase that much so the max distance wouldn’t increase that much either I would think you should find out how many it would take to get positive lift then batch those into their stage rinse and repeat

You're wasting a lot of thrust fighting the lower atmosphere. You need to thrust limit the first stage, so it burns longer limit yourslef to a 1.5 TWR, get yourself above 20 or 30k then you can add in the crazy amounts of thrust. Also, if you give the sepratrons a slight twist on the angle you can spin stabilize the craft without SAS.
