By the default apparently the game uses a single layer perceptron type neural nets. But seems you can change it to a more complex one. I'm not sure how much use it is, but.. with single layer, the learning is kinda limited, as in, nothing happens after some hundred or so generations no matter how far you'd keep it running. Still. The main functionality of the creations comes from their shape. So more complex nets may not be needed....

Connecting muscles between the same bones multiple times will make the muscles stronger. There's a hint about it somewhere either on the page the game is on or the help menu in game. Could be useful.

Jumping the Shark: To try and innovate a TV show after it has already passed its peak by introducing irrelevant and unfitting elements. Named after a late episode in Happy Days, where the gang goes on holiday and Fonzie is waterskiing (of course still in his leather jacket) and at one point jumps over a shark using a ramp. The scene was nonsensical and was put there to offer some suspense, but it just turned out to cement the show's failure.

when you try the wheel, you have to go rid off the middle part! Try something like a circle and connect all parts with bones, without a middle part! sorry for bad english

The main problem is you need to fill the inside with triangles, every other shape will collapse due to the joints.

You can make the others shapes not collapse (without necessarily using triangles), making possible the use of lots of shapes and not just triangle to make things stable. I didn't try for odd sided polygons, but using regular polygons with even number of sides it is enough just make it and add one bone connecting each joint to the two second nearest joints on the shape. If it is a square, the additional joints will be the diagonals, if it is six sided, it will be two triangles, if it is eight sided, it will be two squares and so on. This method is more usefull when working with really big shapes or when extra bones are needed.

I tried making a wheel, and there was only 1 time I was able to get it to actually roll. But not even re-evolving the exact same being 20 more times (restarting the process, at letting it run for about 50 generations) was able to get it to repeat that... they kept wanting to scoot across the ground instead. They also seem to learn faster if you let each generation run longer (I usually do 30 seconds per generation)

You can better evolve, back, evolve, back, until you have one that does what you want. They evolve from the base creatures so if those don't eve come close to what they should be doing letting them go is usually a waste of time.

You should test with much higher popularion, or if your device can't handle that much then use branches. My device is not so powerful so I have experimented. I did a creature with the basic 10 popularion, and then I tested the same creature with 100 population divided to 10 branches(you can create less branches if your device has the power to hadle more creature at the same time). Surely the time gap between generation is longer this way. But this way the best creature of fourth generation of the 100 population group was better than the best crearure from the 100th generation of the 10 population group. So in the long term it is actually faster working with higher population even if you have to divide them to branches.
