@antii19957 жыл бұрын
Try eating raw fruit and vegetables before anything else in the morning, on an empty stomach. It will make a big difference as it digests a lot faster than cooked foods and needs to go through you very quick. If you eat cooked foods before it will stop the raw foods to pass through and you'll get bloated. I'm german so sorry if that's not very understandable.

Your description of getting constipated eating salad greens makes so much sense. It made me think of my slow juicer. If I put in a lot of greens like kale at one time the pulp gets stuck and doesn't come out. I keep adding more hoping it will force the pulp out but it usually gets worse.
@theanemicproblematicvegan79987 жыл бұрын
it is a good analogy, yes. also, if you've ever made a smoothy using apples, you need to add a LOT more liquid to it or it just end up as a half solid goopy block of pureed fruit. so her raw apple story makes sense aswell to me!

Great video Nikki!! This has been a huge issue for me lately. I suffer from horrible IBS and my whole foods vegan diet has really exacerbated this for me. Your suggestions make total sense and I'm going to try them all!! Brilliant!! You covered this topic so well. I have found that since going vegan, I'm much less constipated & have no problems going to the bathroom. I think dairy was one of the things that really caused me to be constipated. I have also found that cutting out artificial sweeteners really helped. I also find that rinsing cans beans very thoroughly before eating lessens gas. Now, if I could just eat a giant raw salad with no problems :)

OMG! You’re absolutely right about the fake meats! I’m a new vegan (almost 6 mos.). I started eating fake meats and then I switched to Whole Foods only and I was very regular. I then went back to eating fake meat with my veggies and all of a sudden, I’m constipated and gassy! I’ve been getting painful gas. You are the first person who actually addressed the issue with fake meats and gas. I wasn’t sure what was causing it at first, until I started thinking back to when I started eating a lot of fake meats. I’m going to cut down on those meats. You can just go by color of your pree. Close to clear is best. Also you should pee at minimum five times per day. Less then that is a sign of dehydration. Usually a person cannot process more then 16 oz per hour unless it is really hot out. In case double that if you're out in the heat.

It's so funny to me that people think their stomach should be flat at all times...like no. This was a great video. Thanks for sharing your tips. One thing that helps me to increase regularity is eating raw veggies earlier in the day instead of with dinner. Aw I know what you mean about feeling like a freak. I think it's all about listening to your body and making sure you're being gentle with yourself. if you want to lose weight, eat lots of veggies that your body does like, load up on filling low fat starches for energy (they also help you feel full) like oatmeal, potatoes, and quinoa and also move your body. Exercise, fresh air, hydration, relaxation (stress makes me gain weight or hold on to weight) and lots of sleep are also really important to looking and feeling your best :)

I will share your video and I’m sure she will be able to learn a lot like I did! It’s amazing how everybody is so different and what one thing works for one person doesn’t particularly work for another. Thank you

@@NikkiVegan I became vegan because of my husband’s health, he has hyperthyroid. Just eating healthy helped him with his thyroid Issue thank God! I’m also 7th Day Adventist and they teach us a lot about health.

Yes... when I don't get enough sleep, I will constipate. Then I'll get full and stuffed after just maybe a piece of fruit. SLEEPING IS IMPORTANT!

Thank you so much for this video - I have noticed some of these problems myself and lately have been trying to "tune in" more to my own body and that has helped. Also, not everyone is the same - in fact, I'm learning that our digestion can be as individual as our fingerprints! Not to mention our gut flora which is turning over and changing all the time!!!! You have inspired me to keep to my path and love myself for who I am!

Thank you SO much for being so honest in a way that most people are too worried about! I am super new to this and people are very *cryptic* about vegan digestion and I had no idea what to expect or what was normal, only that *changes* were ahead. I really appreciate your candid information and tips, this was really eye opening!

I like to drink "Good girl moonshine" which is some blended raw ginger and a little apple cider vinegar in a big jar of water sweetened with stevia. A cup of it really helps my digestion.

I'm happy to see that the quick oats isn't "the devil" like they're portrayed. I will try and see if this helps. I eat a lot of oats and greens, but get constipated and bloated. Thanks for the video!

Just found your channel through this video and I am so thankful I did !! I am about 3 weeks into being vegan and beforehand I had extreme bloating and indigestion issues, they are a lot better since being vegan but I definitely still have flare ups and it bothers my overall well being and I think all these tips are so helpful and great!

Great advice about when to drink water. Drinking while eating just dilutes your stomach acid and reduces your ability to digest

Great video! I am working on this now. My boating is driving me so insane that I had to get spiritual on it too! I have also worked on it from a Chakra point of view. The areas affected are the 1, 2, and 3rd Chakra. For me, I have been working on the 2 Genitalia area, and 3rd the solar plexus, as one is creative energy and purpose. I can relate to them, as I am on my life journey. I also discovered that we have suppressed things like stress and fear over our lifetimes and have never dealt with it until now. I see my body as an accumulation of my suppressed trauma from childhood that gave me ulcers and irritable bowels at a young age until the present. Becoming a quasi-vegetarian first was for health reasons, red meat was messing with my colon and digestion, so out with that first. I just needed to add the holistic healing aspect. For anyone interested just look up Chakra charts and see the areas that need you attention and make your vegan diet a partner in your renewed mind, body, and soul. You do not have to be Christian to know that Jesus fasted before he began his ministry, so not eating food or certain foods has a history of spirituality and preparation for greatness. I fast every March my birth month for 31 days because I want more than food for my body but for my soul that will live forever. Maybe I am following some Egyptian concepts about the afterlife?

I get really bloated with trapped wind if I eat lots of raw veg especially green peppers and cucumber. I can eat lots of steamed broccoli without any probs. I cook it in the microwave for two minutes and it's cooked.

I mentioned that in the comments aswell but here is another tip for better digestion: Try eating raw fruit and vegetables before anything else in the morning, on an empty stomach. It will make a big difference as it digests a lot faster than cooked foods and needs to go through you very quick. If you eat cooked foods before it will stop the raw foods to pass through and you'll get bloated. I'm german so sorry if that's not very understandable. I enjoyed your video a lot, especially the part where you explain that we have a responsibility to listen to our bodies and take care of it. Thank you so much for being so open and talking about that topic. You have a new subscriber :) Lots of love xxx

FODMAP diet is amazing for IBS. Tells you exactly what foods cause symptoms, helped me alot. Apples, onions etc are notorious for bloating
@NikkiVegan7 жыл бұрын
I've heard that! Currently not having much of an issue with it, honestly think sleep was the cause of some of my issues. Wasn't sleeping properly and giving my body the time it needed to rest and recover
@coza107 жыл бұрын
NikkiVegan Yeah I think the core issue is imbalance in the gut microbiome leading to digestion problems and food intolerance born from unhealthy lifestyle habits. I can literally eat foods like bananas or dates which are high in a FODMAP category and have instant issues with digestion and bloating. Not sleeping well could definitely play a part but maybe you sleeping better could be a byproduct of better digestion / absorption of the food you're consuming? A lot of people say they sleep better when they change to a healthier diet such as more plant based.. How do you think you improved your sleeping in the end? Thanks for the replies :)

I have the same issue with oats! Glad to hear switching to quick oats works for more people too :)
@NikkiVegan7 жыл бұрын
It totally did for me! And if that doesn't work you could try quinoa or quinoa flakes, rice flakes, or millet and make porridge out of that :)
