@seigeengine6 жыл бұрын
+Eddy mmm Actually, a mall is generally defined as a series of stores in an enclosed building or series of buildings, whereas a shopping center is a series of stores that share a building, but not an internal access. Basically, can you go between stores without going outside? Then it's a mall. If you have to go outside to get to different stores, it's a shopping center. Some people use the words differently, but she's not wrong.
@readysetsleep6 жыл бұрын
4:12 60 years ago there was a super market and a movie theater... It's a Strip mall, it was designed as the buffer zone between residential and and an obstruction (northern Blvd). Strip malls were built by property owner to earn revenue because it was undesirable residential development land. Property owners would sit on strip malls until they were bought out by other developers. But in this case it evolved into a destination retail location. This is a basic in Urban Design history.

I used to shop there. The clients are snooty. I remember one day I took my lunch break to shop at the Brooks Brothers store. I liked to wear brooks brothers shirts and ties to work. The males in the men’s department were whispering to each other that I must be wearing a uniform. They might have been security or store attendants. In other words They were saying he (me) doesn’t belong here. That is the type of micro aggression and racism I experienced at this mall.

@edwink14676 жыл бұрын
Umm... no they are not. Prejudice based on race. Is that not the definition of racism? Perhaps take two seconds to google and you may learn something new. I will even do it for you to save you the hassle. --------------------- rac·ism ˈrāˌsizəm/ noun prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. --------------------- Literally the first word that comes up is **prejudice**. You can deny it all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that incidents like these still happen every day in 2018. I am sure it has never happened to you. It has never happened to me either, but sometimes you need to stand in someone else's shoes and show some empathy for their struggle. What if you were the Black man who got followed around in luxury stores, given weird looks, while the employees whisper to each other about you? You can be successful and have all the money in the world, but the color of your skin doesn't change.

Shopping center is the same thing as an outlet except outlets sell defects or out of season junk 😉

What's the difference between a shopping centre and a mall? In Australia, it's the same thing...

Some people use shopping center to refer to when to get between stores you have to go outside, whereas a mall is an enclosed building where you access the stores from inside.
