The 68er tv special is one of the greatest moments of Elvis life. First it should be a christmas show and then it became this brilliant energy show. His black leather suit had to be dried during the breaks. This tv show was the basis for his las vegas shows. Dani you reacted to a Elvis highlight again. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS. I always remember an interview I saw with Priscilla close to the time this special was aired and she said this was the first time she had ever seen Elvis perform live in front of an audience. He’s been doing movies and she had never seen him perform live. That just blows my mind. Can you even imagine what was going through her mind. I’d really LOVE to know what she was thinking. Fantastic! I'm glad this video finally got past the censors. Yes part of what drove Elvis' fans crazy from the beginning was his sense of humor in teasing his audience. 'The Edge of Reality" from Live a Little Love a Little in the same year, 1968, he does some 50s gyrations like he did in Jailhouse Rock. Double feature of Blue Suede Shoes today, I love it!

Blue Suede Shoe was the first Elvis song I heard. Carl Perkins also released it at the same time. The radio channel I listened to would alternate between Elvis and Carl.

You should see him do this as a younger man. It's pretty amazing. Not that this wasn't amazing. It's great to put a spotlight on somebody who was just really so good. And you're totally right. The guy was a total goofball when he wanted to be but he also is known to have a temper for example and when they told him he couldn't bring his black singers into a certain venue for a certain performance and then he would get so angry he would throw sit around the room and he would threaten to cancel the show unless they capitulated.
