Since the Yeti came out in 2009, and the explosion of KZbin in 2012, USB mics became extremely popular. The Yeti nano just misses the features I need, the elgato wave3 is toooooo expensive, the Samson g-track pro is so solid, perhaps better than yeti, but looks like ass. The cheaper usual suspects, Samson meteor, blue snowball, razer seiren, and the new hyperx solocast are just....without any features. I need the polar patterns, the gain knob, the mute button, the volume button, the 0 latency jack, the stand mount, the metal build (cause some are plastic and it shows). You just need a pop filter, or a thick sock, cause the yeti has a very strong pick up distance. IMHO

I know you're pushing this mic as a youtube/streamer focused appealing mic, but...I game quite a bit with my friends and we use discord to talk to one another. Do you think this mic is a good thing to have for that? or is that overkill? We don't stream, or at least I DON'T stream but at least one of them do from time to time. I was thinking of eventually starting up my twitch channel for the luls but I doubt I'll ever get anywhere big with it. So....overkill for simply talking to friends and family from my PC? I don't have the cash to simply drop on anything I want and I'd be saving up for this for sure, just not sure if I should bother doing so given the price tag and the target consumers.
@jacobbearman38566 жыл бұрын
I use the full sized blue yeti, the blue yeti nano is probably overkill if you don't already have a headphone mounted mic. The sensitivity of the diaphragm on the yeti picks up even the slightest fan noise if you have your system on any fan setting higher than idle
@TheMrMobile6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, sounds like this is overkill unless you're planning to pivot to a more content-production-focused future!
@Silvernirvash6 жыл бұрын
I see. so my headset is probably best for me given my current circumstances. I'm living with my mom in a teenie tiny room that has about as much space as a college dorm if not less lol. I have about 2 feet at best of space between my bed and my desk and that's filled up with my desk chair so....no space really what so ever. you can imagine based on that description the noise coming from my system, and the thinness of my walls. not great to say the least. I'll probably just stick with my headset and look into a better headset in the near future. I know that ASUS has a headset out there that peeked my interest. tho it's bluetooth and substantially more costly than this yeti nano mic.
@aarorasilainen6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'd agree that the Yeti Nano is overkill, but if you want a really good microphone I'd suggest you look at the Samson Go Mic.
@Silvernirvash6 жыл бұрын
hmm I do have an interest in it. I've picked up some voice-over lessons privately and I'm coming super super close to making my demo reel to put out there. So content creation on youtube and twitch might be something I'd like to do. I have no real connection with anyone in this field however and honestly, it wouldn't be full time, it would at best be supplementary to my normal income and would probably be something like what you did with PocketNow, joining or starting up a podcast. Maybe I should do it? Maybe I shouldn't? Who knows. It's super interesting to play with the idea in my head, and super scary to think of the possibilities and requirements to make those possibilities become reality in turn. An old roommate of mine likes to think "invest in yourself to invest in your future" and yeah...that sounds about right with this. It's just...well...a pretty big investment lol.

With regard to the microphone, whenever I'm using my computer for personal reasons I'm not exactly projecting my voice toward the microphone I'm usually looking down at the keyboard. do you think this microphone would help or should I look for another solution? right now I'm using an old webcam mounted on top of my monitor which is fairly serviceable. in fact I'm using it right now to write this as this is being written with speech to text. the bigger thing I want to know is what cameras are you guys using these days because even in this video the camera reminds me of that old Windex commercial where the glasses so clear that the bird flies into it.
