Bluefin Tuna and Rock Fish on The Producer Sportfishing 1.5 Day June 1st 2024

Headed out on a 1.5 day offshore fishing trip targeting Bluefin Tuna . 2nd stop at 2:30am my Nephew Jerry Cottrell hooked up a 50lb Fish on a knife jig. We chased them around the rest of the morning with no luck landing anymore . Captain Frank decided to load up on rock fish mid day then return to chasing Bluefin . The rest of the day and night yielded zero . We had a great tripand brought home a nice amount of Cods for the entire boat .

Recommendation for anglers you don’t pump the rod when fishing for rockfish

All Anglers have their own style of fishing , Ive been told many of times i fish my rods or gear the wrong way . Bouncing Jigs off the Ocean floor is needed to get the reaction bite . Thank you for your support and hope to see you out there sometime 🎣

@@ArthurPereira1974 what happens is when you stop pumping the fish keeps on floating up and the hook backs out sometimes . Better to have a constant retrieve and let the rod stay bent all the time

What size leader were you using when bottom fishing? And jig size?

My leader length was approx length of the rods , Line weight 30lbs , and on the big knife jig 80lbs . Jigs all sizes . This stop the fish ate anythign you sent down . Pretty awesome rock fishing , the best ive ever done . Hope to see you out there sometime

I have never seen such an expensive sets of rockfish rods and reels before in my life. Talica 2 speeds for rockfish? 😂 early season tuna bites are tough, I am glad you guys still have a good time.

@tamalpias 😂 We came prepared for Tuna 100lb . They didnt want to bite anything Jigs , Poppers etc. So Captain swapped to rock fish midday so we at least had some meat to bring home . Thank you for watching , hopoe to see you out there some time . 🤙🐟🎣

Normally myself also, but in this instance I took home fish , and alot . So pretty stoked . Boat killed it this morning. Missed the bite by a day
