Happy Friday! (almost made it, ALMOST!) Here's this week tutorial covering concept sheets and how to make good ones. I've seen so many problems with those I've reviewed - this topic recommendation seemed like an obvious video to make, so here it is! Most of this is basic stuff like I mention in the video, but make sure you do ALL of it or your concept sheets will be cursed. Also, free brushes this way and everything on Cubebrush is 20% off until Monday *hint* *hint* cbr.sh/i3ozi Have a great weekend!! Or not, but try at least.

@boffle5393 жыл бұрын
Peculiar that you had stopped considering art as a career at 12. Most people do that when they’re young adults, since that’s when most formal education programs end. At 12, you still have a lot of time to improve and catch up. For example, Marc Brunet himself said that he improved the most from 16-17 years old.

The fact you worked at Blizzard and give us the information about how to get to gamedev makes me click the like button before I watch the video! Your channel definitely should have more likes and views. Also, I saw people who make character concepts using photos, what do you think about that? I know when you work in the industry you often just don't have time to draw everything from zero, but how about those things in portfolio?

Hi, Marc! I'm a 17 year-old student that are pursuing art for my career and I still have a lot of questions, for you and all other older/longer students of yours. No. 1) What should I do when I receive my first commission? What should I expect from it? No. 2) I've been watching your videos in hope to improve my art, and hopefully get into the school I want. The problem is, I had always been confused to how you tint the black and white shading you've been teaching. Did you shade them on the same layer? No. 3) Flat colors, and this is one of the most useful things you've taught me so far. Did you put all your flat colors on one layer? I've made a few mistakes when I first followed your videos and colored them on different layers, I'd like to know/make sure if you use it on the same layer. No. 4) Although I know how to draw lots, I'm still having a "Same-face-syndrome" or I'm just afraid to draw men. I've been watching and re-watching your videos to embrace them, but it just seems like I can't get ahold of the anatomy. No. 5) And this is one to your subscribers, who use Medi-Bang, hopefully. I've bought Marc's starter brush and it seems like I can't use them, can someone please tell me why? No. 6) What kind of program do you think is best for a long-term artist? Medi Bang had been good but it is starting to annoy me with its frequent freezing. I'm weighing between Clip Studio and Paint Tool Sai, which one do you think will be better in terms of price and the benefits for long term artist? That's all from my question 😅 I'm so sorry that I have so many questions, which I also have rambled in, but I am getting better at my arts thanks to you. Anyone who have answers to my questions, please comment it. I inspire to be an artist and I hope the answers can help me. 🥺Thank you.

You forgot to talk about ANATOMY…..your characters can be rendered insanely beautiful and it means nothing if your anatomy out of wack or looks wrong…check your anatomy and know your anatomy especially if its human or animal or creature…keep your anatomy in mind always because its easy to get lost in painting and rendering etc…

I know this would be more adept below the last video, and I am not sure if you have made a video about this, but could you explain what brushes (if possible in detail, not everyone uses adobe products, but no biggie) you use for lineart, painting, shading etc? I want to get back into digital drawing/ painting and I am a little overwhelmed with the possibilities. What brush do I use to layer and shade? is this great for lineart? do I antialias now or later (mostly important if you use the fill command and in animation, if I recall correctly), and that would be an immense help. I used to use PhotoShop, but after my student license ran out I didn't want to renew my license and discovered Clip Studio, but the brushes work differently, compared to photoshop and more like SAI. I am looking for tutorials in clip studio, but I enjoy your style and way of tutorials since the "colour a character" video with the biking char 6 years ago.

What's your opinion about showing iterations in the final design sheet? Because there's another former Blizzard concept artist that REALLY hammers home the idea of showing a couple iterations as possible in your final sheet.
@YTartschool4 жыл бұрын
If it’s the final design sheet it’s meant as instructions to the next artist so definitely no iterations, but if it’s a portfolio piece meant more as a pitch rather than final design, then hell yeah those make great additional sketches
