Just read some comments saying that 11 volts for a 12 volt appliance is acceptable. No, it is not. Considering voltage drop, and the fact that low voltage cut off from various power supplies would cut power around 50% SOC with the discharge curve of this battery chemistry, that's not ok. Also, I have a video I posted about a year ago showing the huge decrease in performance of 12v appliances when using 11v source. Please watch those videos. I didn't cover that in this video because I figured this has been established for a while. I don't want to waste everyone's time repeating things I have covered in previous videos multiple times. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Does off-grid solar confuse you? Hello Will...Bluetti just started an Indiegogo campaign for the AC50, which they call it AC50S ...Don't think it is a coincidence that the current price point is $349 ...12V regulated... MPPT ... which are the factors that you mentioned needed to change!! Also they have a kit that for $599 you get the AC50S and a 120w portable solar panel! Thanks for doing what you do! Yeah I've seen a couple of videos recently on KZbin where people are running portable fridges and the Jackery lasted many hours longer with the regulated 12v output. Jackery uses Li-ion NMC batteries which is smaller and more power dense compared to LiFePO4 so they also have more room inside and likely using a larger pure sign inverter since they have stronger output also. The Explorer 300 has 125w charging input, MPPT and 300w 500w peak inverter which is really great for something so small.

Please do a video on ac50s. Your original “ac50” video was not thorough. Teardown would be great? Curious to see the “automotive” grade cells. Also, Hobotech says it seems to have quality components inside without teardown. Does it??? People want to see build quality inside. Also, one of the three 12v outlets is now regulated. You can get the ac50s for $379 (no tax if outside California) - even if it comes short of 500wh, still a great deal... you should also throw some solar panels at it (put them in series in a higher voltage configuration)

Let's hope that the sponsor will take this to heart and fix their problems. It should'nt be hard to get the voltage regulated to a solid 12-13 v. I guess some of the raised price is due to the induction charger on top, but how many customers will actually need that? How about making this an option on a select model and not put this function on all of them? As always, an excellent video. No nonsence and to the point, acting in the rv-public interest and not recommending a product that is not up to standards.

Good (not) recommendation, Will! Love the brief summary. Didn't waste any time. Regarding batteries - researchers found out that if you sprinkle carbon nanotubes into normal lithium ion batteries, the capacity and C rate increases more than threefold. A lot more energy is available. But with no way to affordably mass produce carbon nanotubes, that's more of a "Cool - looking forward to it... in 2050?" kind of thing. I think graphene and carbon nanotubes might eventually push the traits of capacitors and batteries a bit closer together. I saw you post a few hours ago about super capacitors - one use that I didn't see mentioned is dealing with low temperature charging such as regenerative braking up north. Super capacitors are happy at -40C, while lithium batteries are already unhappy close to 0C, and prefer 15-20C for optimal operation... I believe Tesla plans to add a small amount of supercap storage to their future vehicles and battery packs to improve performance and longevity in cold climates, by recapturing energy better in stop and go traffic or areas with hills. Oh hey - quick random question - when I clicked on the Community tab on your channel, I couldn't post anything there? I must be a youtube noob. How do I respond to things there?
@WillProwse5 жыл бұрын
Oh the youtube community section is a pain in the butt! You can only "reply" to my posts, and thats it. If you want to post questions or anything you wish, check out the forum: www.diysolarforum.com Yes I have been reading about those battery developments. I cant wait to see what emerges, and how hard it is to manufacture. And how long it will take to create a factory that can mass produce those developments. Usually it takes 5 years for a full scale factory to be up and running, and refined to some degree for max output, so I am thinking 5-7 years. I cant wait!

@DennisWintjes25 жыл бұрын
Great that you found this flaw, it is a big deal. Bigger? I think 1850w true sine output, i.e. 15A is important. With 1000w, it will power many items, but not all. Bigger is still needed. For me, I would like to see 1850w true sine output with 2000wh-3000wh of capacity. This is great for an RV.

Good morning. Love your videos. You're extremely knowledgeable and honest. I need your opinion...Bluetti has improved the AC50...the AC50s addresses the shortcomings of the AC50. It has an MPPT and a regulated 12 V! I was able to get one on a special for much less than the "J" 500. I don't particularly care about the AC outlet as I will almost never need it. With the addition of MPPT and regulated 12v....does that change your perspective on this unit?

I bought the Bluetti and am running into a challenge with the regulated 12.2v output. i am running a small fridge / freezer and its reading 12v-11v depending on what its doing. The fridge keeps error coding on me. So when I plug into transformer it sends the fridge 14.2 volts an it runs great. SO.... how can I step the output out on the 12v cigarette lighter output to about 13.5 V? wuold an audio capacitor possibly work? Not sure if I need to go with another fridge or step up the output. Thanks and keep up the amazing content. Your building an awesome life for yourself. Also are there better cigareete lighter inputs that will minimize voltage drop

Just "ordered" the Bluetti AC200 in their campaign over a week ago at $1,199. I also want to purchase a backup system but it is unfortunate that their AC50 is not the one and the Jackery 500 is still lacking and MPPT.

Thank you so much. I was about to buy this solely to run a 12v fridge. :0

That is why I build my solar power generators MPPT charge controllers, LiFePO4 battery pack, and as many car plugs, Anderson Powerpole connectors, 2.1 A USB, or remote battery terminals as I need.

I am using this with an Asprnora 12 volt fridge and have seen no trouble at all so far ( only about 2 weeks of use so far though) I have had the bluetti topped off to 80 or 90 % with solar by evening and with other loads like a laptop drained it to 20 or 30 % overnight. Am I damaging the fridge or power station by using it like this long term? It seems to be functional.

You don't have to make you own plug for the 200w maxoak bluetti 12 volt port. It comes with it and I use it for light 12 volt uses. For $219 pretty sweat deal.

The Rockpal is also unregulated but it allows so much bypass from solar to the ac output and the mppt charges Soo fast

Hey Will, I am shopping for a small solar power center. The Bluetti models here, on their website say they have MPPT controllers.

Will, Rockpals is showing a 540wh with 500 watt continuous inverter on Amazon now for I think $489. I wish you could get your hands on that and review. Says it has MPPT. Thanks for this review.

Hi Will. Do you have any opinions on the Beaudens LiFePO4 battery? 166Wh, 150W AC, 2000 cycles. I'm really interested in that one.
