Funny, You mentioned how Dany is using the same chord structure, yet playing it differently. Dany recently said that she has known and played this song so much that it is part of her soul. She is very proud of the way she was able to rework the notes of the song in different tempos and progressions. These young ladies, at this point, are criminally underrated! This song and others of theirs should be in heavy rotation on all rock radio stations!

Honestly, the original is a straight-up rock song with creepy lyrics. This --- now this is a true horror story. Musically, it is ethereal and grows angrier and angrier by the note. Visually, you have an entity trapped in the walls (and trying to get you to take her hand, maybe trapping you in the walls in her place?), a Goth witch chanting in the forest, ruins, the girls descending the steps just as the lyrics say 'exit light, enter night'. It's fantastic! It's also on Marvel's Midnight Suns game and will be played at Fox sporting events.

The girls said in a video about producing this, that when they looked closely at the lyrics, they realized that what this song is ay its core, is basically a dark lullaby and that's what they re-arranged it as, plus they mentioned that this was arranged, produced and mixed in a week and the video was shot at an abandoned factory near their hometown of Monterrey Mexico by their team.

To me , this version is much more haunting than the original. It's not true or false, it's opinion. Nice! Shot in an abandoned textile mill outside Monterrey, MX. Produced by their manager and their Dad: Rudy Joffroy and Luis Villarreal. Metallica asked them not to do a straight cover. Alessia Cara and The Warning collaborated remotely. This reimagining of the song is very feminine. Instead of being confrontational, it is very conciliatory. Metallica used the approach of powering through fear. The sisters decided to try a more comforting style, until it was time to conquer fear, when in the end strength is needed. The Warning arranged this. It has Paulina’s genius fingerprints all over it.

I much prefer analysis reactions like you did to the more typical "wow!". You've pointed out a lot of interesting details that most of us don't spot, so it becomes a learning experience. I usually like to see multiple videos before I subscribe, but you did it the way I like so I've subscribed. I've heard one of the other highly-rated covers of this song and it didn't hold a candle to this; it was simply a genre-shift without anything like the creativity that The Warning put into it. According to Dany, they only had one week to come up with it and record it (Alessia Cara was who Metallica picked; she shares an international agent with The Warning, who suggested them as collaborators). Dany said they were nervous whether it would be accepted because they did it as their own song, but obviously they nailed it. They also out-hustled a lot of the others by producing a full music video for it. And as usual by now, their videos are a family and friends affair.

I've noticed her stage presence since I started listening to The Warning about 3 years ago, the girl sure knows how to act! or at the minimum convey an emotion with her body language and expressions! really cool!

@@BMR86 Pau always makes sure people keep their eyes on her during shows because they don't wanna miss out on anything. Still, their best actor is Dany because she never tries to look sexy or cute but instead tries to portray the character in the song she is performing. Their show at Lunario really shows that and she can easily switch from looking sad into totally insane if the song calls for it. This makes it possible to feel the lyrics just by watching her face.

To be completely honest, I would have more expected Dany to take on the creepy character doing the prayer as she tends to take on the character roles as she sings them, so it was a pleasant surprise to see Pau doing it. I could have only been more surprised if Ale had done it.

Full disclosure: I’ve been all in on The Warning for years now, so I’m biased..:but I’ve listened to a lot of these Blacklist covers in the last couple of days. For me, Alessia Cara & The Warning’s collaboration is right at the top. The way it starts with quiet intensity to accommodate Alessia’s vocal style, then pivots to The Warning’s harder aggression in the second verse…then combines the two during that gradually building harmony sequence…it’s truly brilliant. Huge props to Matt Squire ( who produced) and The Warning for knocking this arrangement out of the park. Please check out Choke and Evolve, The Warning’s two most recent singles.

Even though I really liked the original Sandman when it came out I believe if by some weird happenstance The Warnings and Metallica's versions got released at the same time .. I read that Dany wanted to make ES a lullaby. And the girls literally succeeded to make this the scariest lullaby ever sung. It is so dark and eerie you get goose bumps all over, and when Pau does the prayer it gets that scary feeling. When all four girls are singing together while standing in each of the doorways in the wall it´s beyond beautiful. The harmonies TW can produce are the best ones. They complete each other. When Dany starts to sing with Alicia it gets heavy. And then at the end when they pay homage to Metallica when performing the classical riff, they go full circle and end the song where they began in 2013. It´s a master piece!

I agree with you, I definitely like this rendition far more than the original. They absolutely killed it! The more we hear from The Warning, the more I come to believe it is literally impossible for the sisters to put out anything subpar! And, this collaboration with Alissa Cara, who by the way is a Grammy award winning Canadian pop star, was a perfect melding of pop and rock. But I honestly did not expect anything less! The Warning are three sisters that started making music very young Alejandra (Ale = Aleh, not the beer. Bass, backing vocals and keyboard, the youngest- 16 as of March 2021) and Paulina (Pau = Pow. Drums, backing/lead vocals and keyboard, middle sister 19 as of March 2021) at 3 and Daniela (Dany = Dany. Guitar, lead vocals and keyboard, the oldest 21 as of March 2021) 5, all learning classical piano. They got the video game Rock Band and fell in love with the feeling of performing on other instruments. Their father asked if they wanted to learn another instrument and the girls jumped at the opportunity and gravitated to the instruments they played in Rock Band. They had been uploading their musical journey to KZbin for their family to see and had wanted to try and play music together as a band around 2012 and started rehearsed for a small performance for their school xmas show. Well They loved the experience so much they began learning and playing cover songs of hard rock and metal bands. One song in particular shot them into the limelight. That song, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica had gone viral (currently over 22 000 000 views) and had gotten the attention of Metallica, Dee Snyder and The Ellen Show! The Warning wrote, composed and recorded an EP called Escape the Mind in 2015 to experience that whole process and to determine what type of music they liked to make... Thankfully they chose Rock/Hard Rock! Ellen Degeneres invited the band to play live on her show, to which they accepted and played "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne, after the performance Ellen and Target awarded the sisters $10,000 each to attend Berklee School of Music in Boston, Ma. USA. They performed a number of small and large shows afterward and began writing and composing new material for their first full length album "XXI Century Blood" in 2017. They supported this album with some very high profile gigs like opening for Def Leppard and separately The Killers for two shows each in Mexico. Also following other large rock bands in a couple music festivals. In 2018 they wrote and recorded "Queen of the Murder Scene" and released it in November of that year and have toured Mexico and South American venues. In June of 2019 they released a single, "Narcisista". A scathing rebuke of their Mexican critics that had accused the band of being "Malinchista" a Mexican term used to call out cultural traitors, because the group has only recorded English language songs. Well this song is in Spanish and it is full of attitude and angst fired toward those critics. This was recorded live in June 2019 at Foro Didi in Monterrey Mx (their hometown) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWiscnieg5mFg68 The Warning is totally fan-funded through Patreon, KZbin and crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe and Kickstarter. They have turned down offers from record labels and talent shows like American Idol because they did not want to lose their control of their music, image and wanted to focus on learning. In fact in one interview with a record label they were asked if they would rather play to 12 people or 12000. Paulina piped up and said The Warning would rather play in front of 12 if it meant they would keep their integrity and could play the music they want to play, how they want to play... That is the most Rock n Roll quote ever! So after a very successful Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a North American tour and to record a new album achieving their goal within 24 hours and surpassing that goal by 600%. Unfortunately the Covid-19 Pandemic forced the band to cancel their tour plans and postpone making their album. Their last live show before the global lockdown was March 14 2020 at the Vive Latino 2020 Festival in Mexico City.This did not stop The Warning from performing though, they played a full concert set from their basement studio/rehearsal space for free for their fans on KZbin and Facebook achieving well over 50,000 simultaneous viewers on March 25, 2020. They have since performed from The Warning Cave couple more times including for the city of Brownsville, Tx. for the Fourth of July virtual celebration and later in the summer for a charity event with rock legends like Slash and Ringo Star. On August 9th 2020 The Warning announced to their Patreon community that after seven long months of negotiations they had signed a five record deal with Lava Records, a label under the Republic Records and Universal Music family. During the announcement they reiterated their dedication to their own creative integrity and dedicated fans on Patreon and were able to retain both in their record contract with Lava. In Sept of 2020 The Warning traveled to New Jersey, USA to begin rehearsal and eventually recording of their third album. After three months of recording and a month and a half of mastering, mixing and editing the third album was completed at the beginning of February, 2021. All that remains as of 22/02/21 is the album design and artwork and logistics of the release which will hopefully happen by the end of 2021. @@BMR86 Yes, I started the bio when I noticed some reactors were putting out incorrect facts. So I checked and double checked the story and started posting this for new reactors and fans... I do need to update it to include their newest single Evolve, this project with Alessia Cara and their up coming EP Mayday to be released Oct 8. @@BMR86 i know this is a cheap trick but if you like to increase subs there are certain ways to go. However you need to realize that some artists draws the fan base but only to that specific group... Japanese female metal as example, Band Maid ir Love Bites (not my style but give quick jump in subs), some Asian famous artist like Dimash, Ali Ba Ta or Diana K (again not my bag) or Angelina Jordan again not my style... I give you here instead some other bands to react to, Beneath My Feet, Plush, GFM Jinjer and Nightwish. You’ll get it when you get there. The first three might not drive your sub base to grow but they are great. Yes, this is an awesome rendition of the Matallica’s iconic song. They had already done an excellent note for note cover in 2014, so they needed to be more creative and they really accomplished it by far, and they did it in just one week, and working remotely with Alessia Cara. I know that this song was used by Marvel’s “Midnight suns” video game and Fox Sports as well. I just discovered your channel because of your reaction and analysis of the song “Glory to the world” by amazing Lovebites. The right combo of creativity and skills put in the same room with an deadline. Neither the Warning or the producer Matt Squire really had any time to prepare and I don't think they even knew each other before they met to quickly do this recording. It have probalby been a "if anybody have what seems an good idea, we flow with that and everybody do what they do best" approach. Very little time to be picky or having big discussions. The bands old mentor Pablo may have come with some good input. It sounded on Dany like he was the first person they called for help, after becoming part of the project.
