Good information. I found it easier to get to wiring etc by taking the mirror off - just twist it off counterclockwise to pop it off after removing plastic pieces: easier access.

would like to see a video of this, specifically where you're holding to twist. ie which section actually separates. mine's on super tight and i'm pretty sure i'd snap plastic if i force the issue.

@@DuhRaceCar I found it extremely hard to pop off the 2nd plastic holding in the mirror, the one where you started to use the trim tool to help pop it off. I used a flathead screwdriver with a sharp edge to achieve the same result but couldn't pop it off no matter how much it was already out of the housing (ie, the last bit of actually sliding it up). I tried tapping the mirror power socket with the adaptor wire for the dash cam but the adaptor wire doesn't seem to be touching any live power point even when its in the same holes as the red and brown. How can I make sure that the adaptor wire is touching live current to get power?
@tonytam4767 Жыл бұрын
Is the car on? You can use a multimeter to test the power. Most likely it’s not touching the connector
@hkeee Жыл бұрын
@@tonytam4767 Yes, the car was on and its really that the adaptor wire does not touch anything that's passing live current. The adaptor when stuck into the red and brown wire hole only touched the wire rubber or the sockets plastic. No metal with current. I couldn't find a way to connect it to anything directly and I can't take the wires out of the mirror socket to hand tie both adaptor wire and present mirror wire together and put it back in. I'll have to just keep looking to a dash cam that can work on battery life alone for 2-4 hours and I can just charge it daily like my phone and take it in and out of the car as needed.
