Just a recommendation, at 13:10 when using (hole punch?) put something soft underneath like wood or leather so you don't dull the punch.

you can also use a plastic cutting board from Ikea for a few euro/pounds/dollars
@robertgoglis88413 жыл бұрын
Tip: at around 13:17 you are punching the holes with the gasket paper on the vise. This will definitely blunt your punch! Use wood or better yet a piece of Ertalon to put under the paper. Ertalon is hard enough to allow a good cut with 1-2 knocks AND soft enough to let the sharp edge go slightly through without damaging it!

Good point Robert! It's like using a glass cutting board when slicing veggies. The glass will actually dull your knife over time because glass is harder than steel.

Another great episode! Love those in depth restoration and attation for detail! One little heads up. We have had an engine gone, because of some little particals that where left inside the inlet manifold. The only way to get them out, is by dipping them in a ultrasonic cleaner. Would be a shame to have your engine blow up after al this hard work of yours! But other than that, keep it up! 💪

You should get one of those laser cutters for gaskets, as many as you use it ought to pay for itself in a short time.
@houseofno3 жыл бұрын
Have you priced a laser cutter for this application? Equipment like that tends to be extremely pricey. Which types of gaskets will it work with? Not all gaskets are the same. A laser cutter might not be a practical tool for every application. I am pretty sure that unless he is replacing a large number of these, and by sheer coincidence they all happen to be compatible with this laser cutter, if I were rebuilding just one or two cars at a time, buying an oem gasket is far more cost effective than buying some high tech and expensive equipment that will not see much use in a small volume workshop

Jejejeje
