I forgot to mention this in the video, but I disconnected the battery before removing the intake manifold. Removing the fuel injection rail can spill some fuel. Any electrical spark could cause a fire. I didn't want to take any chances.
@1swany78 Жыл бұрын
I made the same move with the fuel rail clips. Then I realized they are a squeeze clip, just push on the bent side and pull off. Nice delete job, ICV isn't necessary with electronic throttles.

What did you plug the iac with? I’m just using a 3.5in silicone coupler for the throttle body to get rid of the factory boot. You just have to grind down the tabs on the side so the coupler stays on under boost

Nice video. Do you have the drive by wire or cable throttle?
@michaelblacktree Жыл бұрын
It's drive by wire. I had to tweak the driver's wish table a little bit, for a more stable idle with the ICV delete.
@mariuslaspaas Жыл бұрын
@@michaelblacktree Ahhh. I was wanting to do the same with my car since it's supercharged. I feel the intake has some vacuum leaks. But I don't know if it's possible to make the car idle without icv on a cable throttle.
@michaelblacktree Жыл бұрын
On a cable throttle body, you need the ICV. On drive-by-wire, not so much. That said, if the throttle stop is adjustable, you could fiddle with that. But it won't be the same as having a self-adjusting idle.

Great idea to delete the ccv, but no need to add a catch can. Just block off the drain port next to the dipstick and run a pipe from the top breather port right down so it breathes out under the engine bay. And no , the crankcase will not pressure. Deleting the ccv ensures longer life of engine oil and stops oil vapour from the breather hose going back into the Inlet.
@michaelblacktree2 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree with this. If you do that, you'll be dumping oil on the ground.
@rjhtrucking54292 жыл бұрын
@@michaelblacktree only if the engine surfers blowby, which in that situation one would have a bigger issue. The idea of the ccv is to eliminate oil vapour venting atmosphericly and satisfy certain emission regs.
@michaelblacktree2 жыл бұрын
All engines have blowby. It's just a question of how much. Dumping that stuff directly onto the ground is irresponsible.
@rjhtrucking54292 жыл бұрын
@@michaelblacktree my engine doesn't have excessive blowby which is what you're describing so it doesn't drip any oil on the ground from the breather hose. And in any case, if you look inside the oil filler cap, you might notice that you can't see the valve train ! This is because there is a baffle plate which effectively acts as a catch can only it keeps oil from escaping in the first place , and allows the top end to breath waste vapour and pressure.

I have a screaming noise after deleting the ccv system. Only that I returned the line into the manifold. I have no catchcan and I hear a screaming noise from the back of the engine where this vakum valve is located along with a few more additional hole that has ben plugged up. I also blocked the line that comes from the vakuum valve. I don't know what i did wrong.. I removed the intake ofc. Everything seems to be in order but I get confused idle and that screaming noise I mentioned. Oh and also my oil preasure may go down because I get the oil warning light when the rpm drops. Any ideas? Thanks!
@michaelblacktree2 жыл бұрын
Are you saying that you deleted the CCV system, and just hooked the CCV line up to the intake manifold? That would be bad, because it's pulling manifold vacuum in the crankcase. If you delete the CCV system, you need to either vent to atmosphere or install a PCV valve.

There's a spreadsheet on that page. You have to copy the data from the spreadsheet into the appropriate spots in the tune. Also, after you're done you may need to fine-tune the idle a bit. Or at least, I had to.

So far, so good. The small ports in the manifold (where the vacuum tree used to be) have rubber plugs. They're glued in with black RTV. The concept of deleting wearable parts is appealing by I don't want to throw error codes and risk failing California smog tests. The engineers designed the drivetrain the way they did and these types of hack mods could cause problems.
