Interesting video and I'm going to give it a try. One thing you might add to the instructions is that the computer memory keeps a record of the engine fuel and air ratio and it "learns" and continues to try to mix as it was before you changed the part. To reset this memory, get in the car and put it in the "on" position (not starting it up). Hold the gas pedal to the floor for over 60 to 90 seconds. Release and shut the car down completely (lock it) and let it sit for a period of time. The car will then start to learn the new situation with the new part.

Thanks for the reset info. I did the adaptation reset via software. But honestly after years of making this video and my experience this may not work. Probably better to replace the entire top valve cover.

My e90 is making a loud shinning noise with error code 171. When I release the oil cap, there's lot of suction and resistance to release it and once the cap comes off, the sound disappears. As soon as I put the oil cap back on, the loud noise comes back. What could this be? The code from Autozone says it's the MAF but I changed that 6 months ago and it wasn't needed so I returned it. I also have ISTA but I'm not sure how to use it for this.

I did mine immediately after I drove the car so everything was warm and it was very easy to make a small cut on the side and pull out whole PCV assembly without even tearing it in to pieces. Unfortunately, howling NOISE from the front main seal did NOT go-away. When I started my X5/N55 on idle for about 5 minutes, the noise returned back, while car was ruining and noise was present, I carefully loosen the oil cap and I felt very high vacuum built-up, which was relived by opening Oil Cap and the howling noise was disappeared. After putting back Oil Cap, noise started again. So it is clear that there are many pressure regulating valves/ air ducts in the Oil Cover and some of them may be damaged as well. Before removing faulty PCV, I connected a 1/8 clear rubber tube (30 cm ) and other end slighly dipped in to water cup and I see it sucked water immediately because orange diaphragm of the PCV was broken at many places and also became brittle , after replacing PCV, the water sucking was not observed that means new PCV is not leaking to atmosphere. Noise issue confirmed that there is other pressure regulating hidden valves are faulty and which can not be replaced so my next step is to replace the Valve Cover.

I'm 99% sure that the vaccuum when you take off the filler cap is normal, that's exactly how the PCV valve is supposed to work it uses vaccuum from the intake to open the valve and draw in blow by gas. The sump should be under partial vaccuum at all times when the engine is running. If you see no vaccuum at all when you take off the cap it would indicate the PCV or the non return valve are blocked.

This was happening to my car last week. It was a piece of sponge in the fan to the motor. I took the blower motor out, cleaned it. Now my car wont start😫 but that sound is gone from the motor. Id rather keep the noise vs not having s running motor.

This is a total waste of time and money! If you are having CCV problems you MUST change the whole valve cover as it also has delicate vents inside that also get clogged and fail making this Micky Mouse bootleg job a giant FAIL! Valve Cover Replacement for the F10 n55 engine is just $90 - $130 total OE high quality on Ebay or Amazon! Replacing the Valve cover brand new will fix lots of issues, trust me! Its worth it! Stop going the lazy route, you will pay for it ... 😂

@@Trump-The-GREATEST I did this ccv change and surgically removed the oem ccv and used JB Weld to attach it in place. I was careful to use it around the circumference while not putting too much as to potentially clog the membrane and diaphragm. It has been a week and I still get a howling sound + erratic idle at cold start only. Once it is warmed up, it runs fine. Prior my car was stalling; now I can drive the car fine (post warm-up). Note this is a short term fix and I will sooner than later have to install a new valve cover to have a smoother start at idle and remove the pestering howling. Please not that this part for

@@user-kg3gc1se4n I ended up replacing the whole valve cover. Theres more to the pcv system then just the circle diaphram you see. Theres paasages built inside the cover that can get caked of oil causing fsilure. After I change the cover myself I still slightly hear the rear main seal but it shouldnt cause anymore damage to it. The rear main seal is a rubber O ring that sits between the transmission and engine to seal off the input shaft to transmission.

The pcv is plastic welded on at the factory, it will not just pop off because it is not considered a replaceable part. In true BMW fashion they expect you to replace the entire valve cover since it involves more than just the pcv valve. This is a tempting short cut and may fix the issue for a few lucky ones but most have the same problem return after a few days and end up having to replace the entire cover to fix it correclty. I am all for saving money but sometimes there is just not a short cut.
