Hello Don. Thank you for your comment, I'm glad you found it useful. I find it quite amazing that a chap tinkering in his shed in England can be of help to some one thousands of miles away in Michigan. I assume you have been having trouble with petrol taps on an old BMW? Take Care Jim

Thanks Jim for another great video. It's a shame that so many parts these days are not made to be repaired.

Hello Dennis Thanks again for another comment, I agree with you 100%, it seems everything these days is made to be used once, and then thrown away, I think this is sad, but keep my fingers crossed that perhaps things will change as the next generation comes along. Keep well Jim

Fantastic!! Thanks for a great video. I also love your 6 part maintenance videos. Any plans to dive deeper into the engine? I would love to see work on the clutch and seals.

Hello nreid99 Thank you for your comment. At the moment my clutch is working just fine so no plans to pull it out. I do however need to check the valve clearances, and change the steering head bearings, perhaps more on that later. Take care Jim

@@CYC123 if you have a minute, do you have a list of the tools I’ll need to cover basic maintenance?
@CYC123

Hello Mr Smith. A list of tools to service your BMW. I don't have a list already written out, let me think, this could be dangerous! OK, You will need a set of metric open ended spanners. Set of metric hex Allen keys. Set of cross head and straight screwdrivers. Pair of pliers is always useful. Plastic funnel to allow easy pouring of oil into the engine. You need a way to get oil into the gearbox, some plastic bottles of gear oil come with a plastic tube fitted to their tops, they work well. Keep an empty bottle with its tube in a plastic bag, this comes in useful if the next bottle of oil only has a screw top and no tube. I have an old large metal hypodermic I found at a yard sale, you will have seen this if you have watched my servicing videos. This works well for injecting oil into gearbox, final drive and also the forks. Spark plug spanner. A buzzer or electrical meter to go across the points when you need to set the ignition timing. A set of feeler gauges to set points gap and spark plug gap. Paper towel for cleaning as you work. Tyre pressure gauge. Foot or hand pump for setting tyre pressure. That's all I can think of at the moment, I hope that helps and I haven't forgotten anything. Take Care Jim

Good afternoon Jim, Sure thing if you can make a video of tap clarence and Steering head bearing will be great I have watched your videos of the R65/6 two times... let me tell you something, the way how you explained the carburetor overhaul is the best of the best, glad to find a channel with lots of experience and love for the technical stuff ! I really enjoying watching them.

Hi Chief Eng Thank you for your comment and kind words. You watched the whole series two times...... A glutton for punishment! As it happens I need to check the valve clearances on my R75, and the steering head bearings are a bit worn as well, keep your eye on the channel, you never know! Take Care Jim
