I have R80gs and i have to change my output shaft bearings. Will you tell me what kind of bearings shall i buy please? I will buy 6403, and 6304 size, but i dont know the clearance. C3, or normal? Do you have any recommends?

An other question :) Is that problem, i dont have the lock ring at the inner side of the output shaft? No groove no lock ring.

@@davidtoth4002 you can either get a groove cut in your existing shaft, which is what I did to mine. Or you can replace the shaft. I would not want to reassemble the gearbox without carrying out this modification, since it will very likely shorten the life of the adjacent bearing.

@@motophoenix5951 Thank you for your answer! I have an other question about this bearing. I noticed the bearing what you took off has thicker inner ring, than you put on. Can i do the same? Why do you think the original inner ring is thicker? ( I talk about the output shaft inner side bearing)

When your doing the press of the bearings and gear, do you cool the shaft and heat the bearing/gear before the press?

+Edward Jones No I dont bother, since I figure that the heat capacity of the bearing is too small to make a difference. In my opinion the heat energy in the bearing would transfer out of the hot bearing to the cold shaft too rapidly in the time it takes to press the bearing and any benefit would be lost. The bearing presses on without trouble, just remember to press on the inner race, not the outer.
