I'm sorry my friend, but you are doing this SO wrong...You need to use TWO feeler gauges, one as a clearance HOLDER on the bottom adjuster while you are adjusting the top. If you don't do this, the adjustments will be uneven, and when you go to adjust the bottom one, it will decrease the clearance on the top one that you previously adjusted because there is some free play in the boss that holds both adjusters.

This manual is an excerpt from the BMW shop manual. I refer you to page 8 of the manual where it describes the procedure using two feeler gauges.

@sigung01 Each intake and exhaust has two valves each that are operated by a forked rocker. Correct procedure calls for you to use two identical feeler gauges simultaneously - one for gauging the valve you are adjusting, and the other as a spacer on the other valve. This is to prevent the rocker from canting while you are adjusting it. Many people get excellent results using only one feeler gauge and skip the spacer feeler gauge.

Hallo. Important is, that it works. I didn´t use the holes for the OT point Too. I also turn the weel and look vor the OT with my screwdriver. It isen´t shown in manuals. But it is OK.

Fuck mee that's like the easiest way to adjust the valves. On my Honda I've to remove the tank, air filter box and if I really want to have room on the front cylinder I've to get the cooling system out of the way...Pain in the ass.

BMW recommends the following two feeler gauge dance step. One gauge is used to adjust the intake (or exhaust) valve while the second feeler gauge is positioned under the adjoining intake (or exhaust) valve to stabilize and prevent the rocker from canting. Hi, I just bought a 2000 R1150gs and road it on a 1700 mile trip. I would like to tune the engine up with an oil change, new spark plugs, air filter, valve adjustment. you have got the best do it yourself video thus far, but I'm having a hard time uderstanding what you are doing at 1:15 and agian at 1:49. if there is anyway to explain or show me with a better camera angle i would be greatly apprecialtive. @enanotodo optically Yes! There is a way as You say on one movie. In practice it don't work this way. Adjusting 1 by 1 gives the same effect. Check it out on Haynes and other manuals. U can try both ways and U will see that the result is the same.

@Armandoreyes hi! 1.15-1.49 is the safest way to find the top position of piston, just after closing of intake valve. That's the position where you make the valve adjustment....see U. Mazby

@sigung01 There are 2 ways to deal with OUR problem. 1. send me the link or scan of that original BMW shop manual. As I know (being in contact with Spandau factory), the firm doesn't add any manual to bikes. The "so-called" original REP-Rom is not officially authorized to consumers as "manual". If something changed, let me know.

Zaczynamy od modelu i rocznika (ew VIN). Nie chcę Cie obrazić ale czy sprawdziłeś akumulator. Bo po Zimie to najczęstszy objaw. Potem ew. korozja lub luz przy kablach aku. Zdalnie Ci nie zdiagnozuję ale w zależności od modelu i wersji może to być immobilizer, antena tegoż czy podobne.

@mazbymoto Not everything is in the Haynes or Clymer manuals, however, the info I gave you about two feeler gauges is in the original BMW shop manual, so you can bet it's correct. Actually, if you stop and think about it logically for half a second, you will see how obvious this is.

The FACT that the BMW shop manual clearly outlines the procedure I mentioned is indisputable, it's in black and white, I'm assuming you can READ since you wrote a comment back to me. I've even posted a link to an online version of the manual. So your argument is with BMW, not with me. I'm sure if you contact them and tell them they're wrong that they will fire all their engineers and technical writers and bow down to your superior intellect. Let me know how that goes.
