Sorry for the weird intro music cut - apparently the so-called royalty-free music tracks that I've been using for years, now became copyrighted and after several days of this video being online, it received a claim. Instead of bringing the video down, editing the audio and uploading again, I replaced that audio with a part of some track from KZbin's library. These bikes are almost never compared but they’re actually the two I’d be most interested in for a road biased touring bike I can throw into a series of twisties alone the way. Happy to see the comparo and to get your thoughts!

I own a 23 tiger gt and considering getting the XR was hesitated due to not having the cardan anymore but I miss the 4cc

Here it is, a difficult comparison to be made. I know that you advised that this BMW shouldn’t be on this bike category and I agree, because it has a much more sport temperament to it than the Triumph even counting the latter triple cilindre engine that turns the bike more lively than some other options of the segment. I only test ridden the Tiger, during a couple of hours but I owned a BMW 1000 S XR. From my experience, I can understand your evaluation. When riding the Tiger I had always the notion that in a faster manner, I was really riding fast. On the BMW, I found my self riding it a lot faster without getting it immediately…At first I felt surprised by that fact, like if the bike feels at home being ridden faster or In higher speeds. The BMW is designed to slash the wind force pretty much effectively than the Tiger. A lot of occasions I got that confidence feeling that me and the bike, we were a unitary reality. And we can electronically make a lot of changes to the bike behavior on the Settings and the response of the engine can be different, and it gets different after the motor breaking (1000 Kms). The brakes, totally different between the two bikes , despite the Tiger showed quite composed, on the BMW when braking it felt like I was on a much smaller and agile bike than I really was and never had that sensation ridding the Tiger GT. The handling of the BMW in my personal and limited experience (because I made more than 9000 kms with it and just a few 100 kms with the Tiger) is a lot more sharper and precise. It wasn’t so comfortable on the suspensions but it was much more comfortable than any sports bike that I’ve ridden. I always buy my bikes with some hard luggage capacity and the side panniers of the XR were amazing! Beautiful, roomy and didn’t touched negatively the aggressive style of the bike, which is a difficult asset to achieve, when you don’t want that the luggage capacity compromises the aesthetics of the bike. They also never compromised the capabilities for filtering through the city traffic. I admit that in city riding the Tiger can be more suited to a more relaxed riding, because with the XR, on city environment relaxation was never the feeling that I got from riding it. A lot more people in traffic seemed to challenge you, to see and watch the bike or to race you, specially the bike Uber guys. It’s stupid but happened more than I was expecting. I could live very well without that kind of dangerous attention…that was annoying. It happened also with other more sporty bikes I had, but now I’m older and my patience is not so generous like it was ten years ago😅 Value for money, I think it depends also on the market, but I had no difficulties in the trade made, besides that I lost quite a bit of money, and more due to my eager will to close the next business, that for the lack of demand for the bike. But yes, I can agree here with your analysis. The chain drive…is a pain when you got used to the shaft drive system. That’s a fact. I give you that too. I heard the chain slapping a couple of times and didn’t appreciate the sensation. Got it adjusted, just for the sake of safety, but wasn’t a pleasant worry to have. I haven’t explored all the juice from this machine and I’m waiting to see what BMW does next with this specific model, maybe I fall in love for it again. They say the up grade of the bike will be massive. So, let’s wait and see what BMW Motorrad is capable of doing here too. The transformation they got through with the new 1300 GS is quite an accomplishment, so far, and it’s launching is draining all my attention in this moment. I m quite interested to see and experience how different the bike is to manage. From the little I can know it’s looking extremely promising. This is another very complex video to understand well, without riding both machines, because they are not easy to compare, but it’s surely helpful for the one who is in doubt between the two. The fun and “X” factors are two reasons important for me and the XR nailed them both down. For longer rides or more tourer riding, the Tiger is probably the best choice of the two bikes in comparison. Thanks, V-Told and take care ✌️✌️

V-Told great job i really like your videos. If you have a chance, please compare S1000XR with Super Duke GT. This comparison makes sense. BWM S1000xr is catalogued as a sport bike, not an adventure on their official website. Maybe they changed it recently, not sure...

I'd love to try a Super Duke GT and will keep an eye on demo bikes in the country hunting for one. And yes, BMW moved S 1000 XR to Sport category from Adventure. Likely because of the new R 1300 GS being more of a blend of a GS and XR now which is what we learned after the first test rides.

I like the triumph, confortable, good handling, easy to drive, but I hate the vibration at 5000rpm and the on/off throttle response. That made me discard it from a possible buy option.

I agree with the on/off throttle on the Tiger. It takes getting used to. Oddly enough it's better in sports mode. Maybe there will be a software update that smooths that out? Disagree re the vibes as they are in the rev range that is well in excess of legal street speeds...at least where I live. I like the effect when accelerating hard.

@@shegocrazy I heard that some of them vibrates and some not so much, I only tried 1. Maybe something we can get used to, I dont know. Overall its a fantastic bike, I drove it in graved and the suspension offroad is super fun.

Great comparison as always. What totally killed it for me with the Triumph is the poor aerodynamics causing dirt to be thrown at you from under the helmet. As far as BMW; well I am sure an ECU flash, full Akrapovic exhaust, and air-cushion on the seat can solve it's serious problems. Regarding price, well BMW is guilty as charged 😕

Guilty but still not as crazy as some others especially in its base variant. Italians seem to be the leaders when it comes to getting crazy price-wise.
