Great review Adam, and I appreciate what you’re doing for motorcyclist and for all of us. As a point of feedback it would be great to hear more specifics about the bike, especially the engine in this case when the differences between the double R and the XR are so important. A viewer could watch this review and get the impression it was the same engine as the double R. Great narration and footage. Keep up the good work.

Had mine since April. Added the M carbon side blades (as Adam's demo bike has), full Akra exhaust this week, Brentune this week, Sargent re-worked seat this week, bar risers, lowered pegs.. hopefully this thing is gonna be the perfect machine. Anyone wants an update after this week, hit me up. If it doesn't go well after all the "upgrades / fixes", selling cheap! :)

** Anyone reading this and have a 2020 XR, DO THE BRENTUNE! I'm a hard-to-please person and the Brentune is seriously incredible. It's not just a small difference. It "fixes" the bike and the power is consistent starting from 2500rpm rather than 7500. It's is honestly amazing what they've done to this amazing engine. I really didn't like the bike and now I can't get enough of it. Hope this helps someone considering doing it..

for the $$$, i'd be more tempted by the 2020 ninja 1000sx. Just my opinion.
@AntaresSQ014 жыл бұрын
The Ninja is massively under equipped compared to the BMW, the BMW has so much more features and is much much faster and sportier whilst also very very comfortable. Definitely Skip on the 2020 S1000XR though the older models are much cheaper and better.
@myz06rocks4 жыл бұрын
@@AntaresSQ01 for a 25% premium of initial cost (over $5,000 where i am), no thanks. And i've ridden enough to know that the difference in "speed" between these 2 bikes if there is one, would only be truly realized by professionals on a race track.
@AntaresSQ014 жыл бұрын
@@myz06rocks I think 5 grand is well worth it for the extra features you get from an XR, especially as I said from t he older models, it's even less, you can get leftover 2019 stock with 0 miles for under 14 grand and when you say you can't tell the difference unless on track I'm not talking about the difference between 142 bhp vs 165. I'm talking about the BMWs far superior suspension and Brakes. stuff you can definitely feel in the real world if you ride even a little sporty. The BMWs suspension is infinitely better than the 1000SX The BMW is 20lbs lighter anyway to begin with but the weight is so much better distributed aswell that the S1000XR feels lighter than my old Ninja 650 in corners. Not the mention the XR is also much more versatile, higher ground clearance and easier slow speed handling. As I said ignore the 2020 model for a second because they changed nothing except the dash for 2020 and most of the other things they've done didn't actually improve the bike. The gearing being short is solved by going up a teeth on the front or down 2 on the back and you get a much more balanced package anyway.

I had a deposit on this model and at last minute got cold feet and bailed out on the deal. WHY? Well WHY are there so many used ones on the market? What is it about this model people dont want to keep em? And WHY is it so tall? WHY didnt BMW simply put these handlebars on the RR and relax the footpeg position rather than making the bike so much different/taller/ponderously so? I dont get it? Its almost like they made it all tall JUST so it looks like the other adventure bikes?? The real ones made to go offroad where at least it makes sense to have tall for suspension travel and ground clearance....things TOTALLY not needed or wanted on a road only motorcycle really it is very frustrating and maddening that BMW made this ERROR! SO I bought the Yamaha Tracer 9 instead though it is a little bit infected by adventure bike style crap it is at least easier to move around in a garage and feels much more nimble at low speed...BMW BLEW it for me....they would have had an easy sell but they F'd it up following adventure STYLE for NO good reason! BTW Kawasaki also went in to full skitzo mode unable to make a clear choice to provide customers wanting a sport bike with relaxed ergos....so they make TWO the one is more closely based on the Ninja and actually NAMED a Ninja 1000SX I think but then they also make the Versys which is tall like an adventure bike except it is not lol so it is tall and heavy but they put all the best most wonderful features on it and price it to the clouds...the Ninja SX? Good luck even FINDING a new one I could not so Kawi lost me too Then Honda has nothing they just want you to buy either a Fireblade or an Africa Twin which I dont want a heavy as sin dirt bike sorry yes I know it is pretty good on the street but it is compromised heavily...tall seat skinny 21" front wheel is substandard for twisties...Suzuki has a GSX1000GT but like the Ninja SX none could be found locally....Yamaha Tracer 9gt made the cut simply by checking boxes and being available....and as a bonus not even scalped so I "only" paid msrp...very fun motorcycle not exactly what i had in mind but time was a wasting just getting older every day to be waiting endlessly for silly marketing people to stop ruining model choices
@EEEBA1 Жыл бұрын
I agree with your observations. Kawasaki versys has been out for almost 10 years if I remember correctly. If you look on Cycle Trader you can find many bikes of any kind for sale especially the popular bikes. The BMW XR is a taller bike and you're correct on that 100%. I think they made it so tall to "compete" with the Ducati Multistrada. I had one XR in 2020 (factory lowered because I'm not 6 foot tall lol) and it was an awesome bike. I got it used from the owner who told me "I wanted an upright bike but not a supersport engine in my bike" and that's exactly what I was looking for. Then I sold it a year later and purchased the RR so after little over 7000 miles the RR is sold and I'm going back to the XR. I will never take it off road since I'm not in that kind of riding. Overall out my 13 bikes the XR was the best overall bike I ever had. You can keep up with any other bike in comfort and it's great on the race track as well. Why didn't you considered the BMW S1000R which is the naked version of the similar engine in the RR? The Tracer GT is an awesome bike when I was looking at one few years ago I wanted the cruise control and heated grips and I can't remember if the 2019/20 tracer had them the only thing I really didn't like was the igniting key position on the tracer it was not easy to get to. I know we are all different in what we like and what bothers us.
