GREAT VIDEO guys , I always insist on checking BB side before installing at least in twice at each side .. Unfortunately I have seem way too many undersized BB shells that I Use the reamer almost at the shop, better safe than sorry. One added note , Internal Micrometers are not the great at measuring ovality , thus an accurate Vernier caliper might be handy here too.

I demonstrate in the video how an inside mic detects opalization. Here's our position on vernier calipers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYK9loSAhbabjcU

Do most bike shops understand this knowledge? How do we know we’re picking a quality bike shop??

"How do we know we’re picking a quality bike shop??" Oh boy, now that's a video all it's own that we can never make because by the end most---MOST---bike shops would not make the cut. It's more of a mindset problem than a skill problem.

Is there way for the manufacturer to prevent this for quality control…

Yes, it's be easy to spot this kind of thing and solve the problem at the factory, but that would delay putting it in the box and selling to you.

Where can I get a ream like the one on the video? Can they be used on a carbon housing?

Yes, we use the same Park Tools setup to ream carbon and aluminum frames. Every bike shop should have this setup. www.parktool.com/en-us/product/head-tube-reaming-and-facing-set-htr-1 You will need the proper reamer for what hole size you have, and the flat, non-cutting backer.
