Awesome. I attended a little bit of this talk but had to go to a meeting. Shame there is no GDC 2020... I spent 100+ hours organizing, curating, and setting up a diverse set of panelists for my panel on Blurring Lines: Hybridization of Digital and Tabletop Games ... and poof not happening now. Hopefully, GDC does something in the summer so we can share all our awesome insights and experiences with everyone.

@Fergustine Feart : lol? You don't get it. No one is saying you hire incompetent people. Your assumptions and comments like this are so backwards and why panels like this exist.

@Fergustine Feart : No, you're the problem because WHO SAID THEY DO NOT HIRE ON MERIT? Show me exactly where they said they hire incompetent people. Also, how much work have you done in the game industry? Have you ever even been to GDC? No? Then stop talking because toxic people like you are the problem. Made up name with a throw away account because you don't live in reality and want to hide who you are. Disgusting.

@Fergustine Feart : Who is saying they aren't hiring on merit? Again, you keep pushing this straw man argument that no one is having. Watch the video, read up on the topic, educate yourself. Stop hiding behind a fake name and throw away account. Talk to me when you do game dev and have been to GDC and are not so toxic.

@Fergustine Feart : Uh, you're using a fake name and a throw away account. "Fergustine Feart" isn't your real name, thus you're "fake" in that you're hiding who you are. Again, you act like a little kid who has no idea what the real world is like. I'll say it again: educate yourself, drop the toxicity, do game development, and go to GDC.

@Fergustine Feart : Yeah, you're a Trump supporter who watches FOX propaganda and thinks that stuff is reality. You mention "wrong think" and hide who you are because you think you're correct -- you're not. Look around the developed world and educate yourself. Seriously, research this stuff, look up scientific studies and data on this, and stop consuming propaganda. You think that people don't hire on merit and think they just hire for diversity ignoring everything else. You do not live in reality, do you not understand this stuff, and you are clearly brainwashed by far right conservative propaganda. Clearly you haven't researched the topic or what anyone is talking about. The simple fact you think I'm some type of "white knight" instead of explaining basic human decency and showing your logical fallacies explains everything. You just spit out far right rhetoric not based in fact. You're toxic because of that and more. It is people like you we have to keep having videos and discussions about inclusivity because you completely miss the point. Good luck getting into the game industry. You're going to need it.

Whoa, great speaker and great talk! I like talks on board game design even though I'm not making them, I feel like they're the basics we're all building upon, and good analysis/theory is always applicable elsewhere, even in triple A games.

If you design a multiplayer board game with little or no player interaction, you have done a bad thing and you should stop.

Splendor and Spice Road have only indirect interactions, but are both still fun and well-designed.

There are a lot of great multiplayer games with low player interaction. Race for the Galaxy, Wingspan, Castles of Burgundy, ... .

Dominion has indirect / symmetric interaction only, you think it's "bad", but many people's favorite board game.
