Finally got to see your boat tour, as it popped up while checking out possible tide me over Sailboats to get me back afloat at last, as I've been Landlocked for too long, and am getting extreme withdrawal effects now, and am thinking of a Beneteau Oceanis in the 30 to 40 ft size range with a Shallow Draft, just nudged over 40 ft, saw the 42 is a centre Cockpit, and can't stand those, tried 43 ft, yaay aft Cockpit and there's your walk through. What a nice Sailboat ! Only real issue for me is the Linear galley- I've ended up flat in my left ear even strapped in, so will have to look for one with a galley I can wedge myself into if there are any around, as flat on my ear was when I still had two legs working, so much as I would like the extra room, I think a 37 or 39 ft Oceanis will donwhat I need with a two Cabin one Head (only one head really Sucks tbh) layout. Speaking of which, Seawater flushing. Good idea adding vegetable oil to lube. Since you made this video you have probably heard about urine in seawater precioitates limestone out of the seawater, and you need to add Spirit Vinegar or other mild acid to flush, and let it stand in the pipework, to descale the inside of the pipes pretty regularly to remove any buildup before the Pipes get blocked. Some people do a strong Bleach Flush first, but I havent tried that yet tbh, so can't comment on how worthwhile it is. Probably worth trying though prior to the Spirit Vinegar, as it does seem to do something prior to the Vinegar Treatment, as they keep doing it. Worth mentioning as others may not know how useful Spirit Vinegar is on a boat, for removing marks off non slip side decks and such, plus it can be really cheap to buy. Im not wild about it for pickling though as for me, Malt Vinegar is far superior Flavour for Pickles. Thanks again for the Tour, and fingers crossed I can get one with an L shaped galley. Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Bob Landlocked in Wales still. ❤ 👍⛵️✨️✨️✨️

Very informative boat tour. Easy to see why you guys luv ya boat. Yours is the second channel I have subscribed to which involves a Beneteau - the other being Alex & Mandy on Bluejuice and they also have only good things to say. If I was in the market for a sail boat I don't think I could go past the Beneteau. Just comes across as a quality solid practical very sailable boat. Thanks for the look at your home James & Nat.

And why would I be even remotely interested in some unheard of movie channel? Nice try guys piggy backing on others efforts however as your no doubt aware this is a SAILING CHANNEL and recommendations such as your 'beat up' carry no weight. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Very nice that's like the perfect boat I'd want, for the restroom waste what happens to that, holding tank and if so how do you dispose of it? Sorry I'm a newbie to sailing and still figuring everything out. Aloha from Maui 🤙
@SailingZephyr3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Sorry for the late response! Holding tanks...we have them closed in marinas and anchorages and when you finally do set off sailing....and are well away from the coast....u can open the holding tanks straight out into the ocean....nothing goes in the holding tank (not even paper) only organic matter!! Hope this answers your question! Aloha! Would love love love to visit Hawaii!

First time I've heard hockey jersey storage mentioned in a boat tour video, so often overlooked. Important question, are you able to catch hockey games while living aboard? My husband and I watched the playoffs last year from our boat on Georgian Bay. It was a strange and beautiful experience! You two have a beautiful boat

Thank you for the boat tour. Please tell about your watermaker: Where does it live? How is it powered (solar, engine, generator)? What is its L/hr rating. How often do you run it. Thank you.
@SailingZephyr5 жыл бұрын
Spectra Watermaker It’s installed in starboard aft compartment. Runs on house battery bank. Solar keeps the batteries topped up. 25-30ltr/hr We run it every couple days.

Wow, your engine access is pretty good. I'm surprised you're water tankage isn't larger (I have about 560 liters on my, smaller boat), but I guess the water maker means you don't need as much.

Don't use sunflower oil you will regret it in the future. Sunflower oil gets sticky after some time. If you think that toilet pump is hard to pump now give it some time, trust me on this.👍
@SailingZephyr5 жыл бұрын
Cheers for the tip Pierre. Is Canola okay?
@IERKRUGER5 жыл бұрын
I would first of all clean off the sunflower oil. As much as possible. Stay away for plant based oils. They are great lubricants in the short run but headaches over time. Get some WD40.
@IERKRUGER5 жыл бұрын
The reason I know this is because I got a brand new mountain bike as a child and was determined to look after it. I lubricated the chain and all the moving parts with sunflower oil. couple weeks in everything just started getting stuck so I would just get some more sunflower oil 🤣. Not long after that everything just locked up.

Not a boat - a floating caravan. I’ve been in bad weather on production boats and their motion is awful compared to a proper blue water yacht. For coastal stuff around the med they are great, but don’t get caught out in rough weather because that ain’t what they’re designed for.
@SailingZephyr4 жыл бұрын
Hi Clay - appreciate the feedback. Ahh the never ending debate over BWY vs Production boats. It's definitely a great topic to discuss. We have been extremely comfortable in 5m seas on the beam and 35+ kts for as many as 6 straight days. Sure some boats are better designed for heavy offshore conditions. No argument there. But I have no issues with comfort and at no point have I ever felt unsafe during our offshore travels when we encountered serious foul weather conditions. I think a lot can be said for the way a person sails their boat as well. Pushing it or easing back for comfort.

fresh water flushing will eliminate the head odor.... something to think about.... as salt water has tons of organic matter that feeds and creates the most disgusting smells you've ever smelled (unless you were in war and smelled rotting flesh that is - everything is levels of personal acceptance)/ just saying.
