No boat? No problem! We're boatless today fishing top water on the saltwater shores looking for those striped bass.
The set up 20 lb Thunderbraid, with a 20 lb Thundercarbon leader. a single snap, and a top water lure. We're using a normal rod, though a surfcasting rod would be better as it would let us cast further out.
Today's technique is pretty simple. We're casting out as far as we can, and reeling in the top water lure as fast as we can. We don't want the striper to take a good look at the lure. But instead, want them to see the fast-paced action, drawing them into a bite.

wow Antonio's lure it's one of the best I have seen in a long time... not in a sarcastic way but in a serious way to have a lure so damaged it's because it has been a really good lure and have landed hundreds of fish... thumbs up on that.... Well not always it's the luck of landing a keeper but it's fun as any other fishing to do.... nice tip about the crank bait to follow fast after they miss the top one. I remember in a episode you mentioned but with a tube for smallmouth bass... you know you are bless Ivo by having a great fishing buddy as Antonio.... not everyone can enjoy that... thanks for a great episode boss. Greetings to your family chief...

thumbs up ~ does this work on fresh water stripers as well? and where is best spots in a lake to catch them on top water ? thanks for making the video!!!!
@thundermistlures
@thundermistlures 9 жыл бұрын
+videobreakthru Thanks for the thumbs up and so glad you enjoyed this striper episode. You can use these techniques on fresh water stripers as well. When fishing for stripers in a lake, from shore, look for a point of land, that jets out into the lake and fish either side of that point - also, if you have a rocky area, be sure to fish there as well - good luck on the water :)

Good technique. However, if you go slow, you will catch them fish, esp. if you do a stop and go retrieve. It's a myth that stripers will be able to tell what lures you're using. I've caught them on virtually all of my lures w/ slow presentation. Sometimes a slow retrieve is best. Stripers are not picky like bass. Next, time do what I say and you will land more fish. This is esp. true if you have a very good topwater. They will not let go or give up chase if you find the money bait. Trust me. When I have money, I will show you some killer YT videos. By the end of this month, I think they are ready.

I'm a subscriber and like most of your videos but not this one. I disagree with this way of fishing. You don't have to real that fast, thinking it will work better because it wont. Ya maybe small ones but thats it. Stripers are very opportunistic any way. It won't give them a chance to look at the bait? So your hoping for a reaction strike. Terrible interpretation and terrible way of teaching. Like I said only my opinion.
