Wow. This is amazing. Never heard this version before. Bob Dylan is a bottomless well from which inspiration can be drawn.

I prefer this to the released version on planet waves, love the singing and acoustic guitar. I believe Planet Waves is really underrated, it's the beginning of Dylan getting back into the studio and singing live again. I know it's no match for his '65-'66 trilogy, but I think Planet Waves, Blood on the tracks and Desire is a brilliant trilogy of albums, just when the music press was writing him off,he came up with these three albums, Blood on the tracks being the crown jewel, and he also toured with the band, Before the flood,and then he done the Rolling Thunder Revue, with Rambling Jack Elliott, Roger Mcguinn, Joan Baez and others, which we got with bootleg series 5: Live 1975. You can never write Dylan off,I know he's getting really old,but he still gave us 'Rough and Rowdy Ways'. Thanks Bob, for giving us some of the greatest songs and performances ever.

Not a fan of Highway 51 revisited or Blonde on Blonde. It's a lot of drunk blues songs and superficial imagery.

@@ScrotusZangenpepper Of course. But that is because most people like the music they first hear when they are young. They confuse those newfound freedom from their parents or first love with the art and culture that they experience. Dylan doesn't do this. That's why many don't like him.

Everything about Bob Dylan is just genius. I don't follow a religion and I don't care for one. Bob is my religious leader.

I've never understood why some critics like to knock Planet Waves of all things. It's a truly great album, with Going, Going Gone, Tough Mama, Something There Is About You, Dirge, Never Say Goodbye, and both arrangements of Forever Young as standout tracks. In particular, Dirge is one of the most under-considered tracks Dylan ever recorded.

Un brano straordinario, cantato in modo sentito da un Bob ispirato. Passa tra i brani quasi dimenticati del menestrello di Duluth, ed è invece da ri-considerare perché molto bello. :-)

A great stripped down “isolated” version (you can kind of hear the other muted electric guitar at times). Planet Waves was a great dry run for Blood On The Tracks, all that space in the song!

Yeah, I thought I could hear a bit of backing stuff too.

This is not an outtake but isolated vocals from the album track. With my headphones, I can hear the rest of the band and just make out Robbie’s lead guitar at the start. This demonstrates how pure Dylan’s acoustic contributions are to the studio environment. Planet Waves is a beautiful album. Something that crossed over from another century

The vocals don’t sound like the album track
@warmtoffee4 ай бұрын
@@nano31742you are correct. He sings “so I am going” but just “i am going”. A remarkable outtake. I will return to this. Possibly isolated tracks from a very similar outtake. Beautiful song whatever.

As often happens this sounds better than the album version. But if they'd put this version on the album we'd probably prefer the other one! And the RTR live version is "better" than both!

Love all the people trying to convince themselves this is better than the official release. I'm of the opinion that his somewhat careless, maybe freeform singing is part of what makes his songs so good, but this version is just too much.
