Bob Griese was surgically precise when it came to dissecting defenses. He knew what plays to call and when to call them.

My brother who knows nothing about football works for Bell South. He called me one day and asked me if I knew anything about a guy named “Grise” or “Grease”, lol. I said Bob Griese? He said that ya, he guessed so because “I’m at this house fixing their phone line and there are all of these football trophies and awards. True story.

I always knew Griese had a big arm, but I didn't realize he was as good a scrambler as he showed in those early clips. I think Griese gets underrated today because he was mostly content to just hand the ball off during the Fins heyday (when they had one of the best rushing attacks in history). But when he needed to carry the team in the late '70s, he proved he could throw with the best of them.

Griese did so many things well that he made QBing look easy.

Also, he’s the only qb to lead a team to an undefeated season, in my eyes, he is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever touch a football field. And the fact that they don’t put him up there with the greats is disgusting.

Nobody understands that this is the only quarterback to ever give Miami a Super Bowl. Not only 1 but back to back.

Hard to believe how graceful Paul Warfield was...in my mind, though he played on running teams, he might still be the most talented WR ever.

I agree with your Paul Warfield statement He was Jerry Rice before Jerry Rice If he played in today's wide open game his numbers would be huge Paul was graceful yet still tough as nails

People have said that he should not be in the Hall Of Fame. If you ask me, he's more deserving of being in the Hall than both Joe Namath and Ken Stabler. Bob Griese finished with better numbers than both Broadway Joe and Snake, whom both finished with negative touchdown-intercption numbers. Even though Griese is known for just handing the ball off, I feel like he was a lot better at throwing the ball than people give him credit for. All this coming from a Saints fan

That little weasel would always scramble his way out of disastrous situations. Every time I would go to the Orange Bowl and watch him scramble away from the defense it would drive me crazy. Couldn't stand the Dolphins but Griese could scramble every bit as good as Tarkenton or Staubach, take my word for it.

He's one of my football heroes I've heard detractors say that Bob shouldn't be in the hall of fame because his stats aren't eye popping Which is ridiculous Its not all about stats Bob was a great game manager and the dolphins were a run oriented team in those days so Bob wasn't asked to rack up big numbers but this man was a professor on a football field and a true champion

Better than Marino who wasn't a clutch QB. Compare their post season records. Not even close.

People are gonna hate me but… Miami never needed the next Marino. What did that get us? A Super Bowl appearance and a ton of records. What Miami needs and I believe has is the next Bob Griese. Enter Tua.
