I was part of the very first group. Started with riding just around the sandbox and expanded from there

The kids that went to the park guy were led by Billy Cochran, who had been a child actor (Billy in the Lassie movie). He was used to dealing with adults and was well spoken.

I raced at Palms Park when it was just a track through the park. I had a two speed trigger on my bike then.
