I was in Vietnam serving with the Mobile Riverine Force, 1968-‘69. It was during the TET offensive. I was 19. I still remember the many that died there. I came back to the World and went to college. It was so hard as I had to face demons alone. Somehow I managed to get my life together. This song epitomizes much of my life. God be with those that never came back.

Amen. May God also be with those that did make it back for many will never forget nor live through the traumatic experiences they suffered during their tour and then to suffer the humiliation they endured upon their return home. Thank you along with all those who served.

Praise to you, sir. Those who have never experienced the loss of brothers-in-arms will never know the depth of both joy and sadness which seep invariably into one's soul. You are among the so very rare who have been simultaneously cursed and blessed. May you find some small measure of peace which so many seek and so few ever find.

I read the comments below and I feel so young. Just turned 58. 1981 my mom made me go on a business trip with her and I was stuck in the hotel while she was in meetings. The second day I looked out the window and there was a tour bus there that had along the side Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band. I was a fan and I went out there and Bob was getting off the bus and we talked for 10-15 minutes. He gave me a tour of the bus and I got his autograph. He was so nice and kind to a teenager. I never thanked him. I was in awe and I forgot. I have loved his music from the 70's until now. Thank you sir for being to kind to me.

Love this song, I feel like sometimes I’m running against the wind, but slowing down now, I’m 84 years old, it’s about time i guess. Just so depressed. Loved this movie, it really about life & how hard it is sometime. Today is May 9. 2024. Love you all and Pray GOD can forgive me of all of my sins. I was a late in life learning about our LORD JESUS & learning how wonderful he is, giving his life , shedding his blood for all our sins, I was a horrible person and just pray I can help someone come to CHRIST before it’s too late. If anyone is reading this GOD BLESS YOU & hope you have a great relationship with our HEAVENLY FATHER, LORD JESUS & have the HOLY SPIRIT. The HOLY SPIRIT helps with all my bipolar depression. God BLESS.❤️

Thankfully I never broke anything. But I was hospitalized too many times for my liking. Along with all the injections I received in the military and all the embarrassing medical exams I received I don't favor seeing doctors. Heck, even during our medical discharge physical exam our digital prostate exam was performed in a room while we were fully naked with other naked men in the room waiting to be examined as well. For the love of God can't we get some privacy around here. Even at my last doctors visit at a medical clinic a female EMT student dressed in street clothing was training along side the doctor and got to witness my nudity. My kingdom for some privacy.

@JosephRochefort-g1l fuck sake Thsts awfull I'm suffering post traumatic stress I hardly leave the house I used to run 7 miles a day now can't I know what you mean with doctors I went told them I'm suffering stress she just looked at me as if to say man up I found a charity that's helping military people don't get treated like heroes do they some end up homeless on street I wish you all the best my friend from Scotland
@JosephRochefort-g1l12 күн бұрын
@@albertreynolds9287 I suffered a whole lot of stress in my life. Luckily I don't have any version of PTSD. I was peacetime military so no bad war memories. I did witness bad things in the medical emergency treatment room which helped put into perspective my perceived difficulties. I am able to get out of the house for shopping but I have no friends to visit. Lucky for me I have a huge yard about 2 acres using Scottish measurements. So I have a comfort zone around me that separates me from my neighbors. If it ever gets warm again I think I am going to start sun bathing three times per week. Before the stupid neighbors behind me started using my yard as a pathway I had a very private area of my yard for clothing optional sun bathing. I am lucky in that I can look out the window and see mountains, a river, and sometimes deer. We used to have a natural hot springs where I could go to relax and see nature. That is closed now. But we have a small beach where I often would go to relax. You should consider finding a similar place where you can go where you feel at ease as much as possible. I sort of grew a hard shell around myself because I suffered with bullying back as far as the first grade.

I grew up in the 70’s too, it was not happier and freer then. We had to protest the phony war against Vietnam, as a 17 yr old I was worried about being conscripted to fight against an unknown “enemy” that is now a popular tourist attraction. All because of the conservatives in govt in Australia. We voted against the conservatives after decades of rule and the new party brought our troops home and saved my arse. Conservatives are against freedom.

My brother was a student at East Detroit High School and a part of the school's audio and visual department. In order to raise money for newer equipment, they decided to have a concert at the school with a local performer, Bob Seger. The concert didn't go as planned as only a few hundred tickets were sold for what they had hoped to be a two-thousand-seat packed house. Two weeks later, Against the Wind was released and being played on-air around the country. The ten dollars tickets at the High School would be fifty-dollar tickets at future Bob Seger concerts!
