Jim and Victor - i’m so sorry. I wish I could figure out what it is that marks some children to be the victims. They tend to be really nice people, sensitive and caring. It’s really evil, and you know the bullies are just acting out in an ugly way because they are messed up too. But they seem to pick on the same kids over and over again. Awful.

Hurt to swallow with nothing even in my moutb. I agree. At some point you may realize that the stress comes from within and it’s possible to not allow it to affect you so much. I learned some CBT and DBT techniques and also changed my diet and practice meditation and I’m really good now. I also agree that I wouldn’t want to be teaching in today’s Canadian schools.

I hardly eat anything and just can't lose weight despite eating nothing but steamed veggies, raw nuts, a little dairy. I don't have hives, rather, acne, despite being 59. My brain is foggy, I'm fatigued whether I sleep well or not. Every Sunday, I get a "neck" headache. Despite putting in 60+ hours, I'm just barely managing check to check. This is due to budget cuts. I do the jobs of three people, but my chances of getting a job that will pay the bills if I quit my current one is about 0%. I used to have hobbies, exercise 3-4 x per week, have a social life. All of that is gone. Nkw, I just try to survive.

I am sorry Marie, If you can just try and do something happy everyday - walk up the stairs at work and SMILE while doing it. You can work something in if you try really hard - but whatever it is - make sure it is something that you love to do! I had a period of life like yours and I took a Grief class that helped me so much! I know it sounds weird - but grief is just the loss of something in your life - it could be just that things aren't turning out like you had planned - that is a loss. I also discovered Zumba - it helped because for an hour I had to focus on the teacher and not my problems! That is healthy too! Wishing you the best - God can change anything!

I'd say be very careful about writing off a child's ailments to stress. I have very rarely seen physical manifestations of stress in kids, it's usually behavioral. When I was a kid I had stomach aches every day after lunch. Not a single person, even after 4 doctor visits, put together that I was lactose intolerant. They told me it was all in my head so I shut up about it. I figured it out for myself out when I was 20.

They told my son he was ADHD and his stomach problems was just an excuse to get out of school. It was neither. He ended up in ICU then NIH. He could have died. Several top drs. Guessed what it could be. I then contacted NIH flew him out there and they still had no diagnosis but guessed and gave him two pills invermectin and he was cured. He had fluid around his heart and lungs and lumps appearing all over his body. He was put through hell with all the drs. and testing. He was only 10.

So, you had a daughter who was as stressed as you felt giving that speech nearly everyday as a kid? She was likely emotionally sensitive (and likely still is, since temperament is pervasive throughout the life span). I'm a mental health counselor and I specialize in treating emotionally sensitive folks (extremely so, likely way more than your daughter); I've never had a client who was severely emotionally sensitive who didn't also suffer from chronic stomach issues. Often, they've gone to GI doctors and testing and all sorts of things. The body is a fascinating thing and, in my opinion, the brain is the most interesting part!

Stress is not fear, its a reaction that the body feels as a result of a situation that feels difficult to manage. Anxiety IS based in fear, fear of the past or present but often the future.

I agree Micro Wave Yikes, no good kills goodness. I soak my raw almonds in water for 24 hrs rinse every 6 hrs. You'll find a foamy slime, thats what makes them hard to digest in the gut. The in the dehydrator for 12 or more hours. MUCH MUCH better way to prepare any nuts.

RE your comment on salt and blood pressure, are you familiar with the research which suggests high salt is not causal to high blood pressure? And that too low a salt intake, such as current FDA recommendations, is actually more detrimental to health than too high salt intake? Here is a thorough but accessible video on it /watch?v=0bNdhM4vt4I&spfreload=10

It's causal for 45% of people with HBP and other possible genetic conditions but not the majority. And the daily recommended limit is WAY too low for young people who exercise. The Salt Fix is a good resource for info.

Try to relax with healing, massage, listen to music or guided meditation. And don't think and feel stressed all the time. Or the law of attraction kicks in and you get more of it ☹. Think the opposite. Think that you are relaxed and try to feel relaxed. Before bedtime imagine at least 20 minutes with feeling that your life is calm and relaxed. And the law of attraction kicks in and you get more of it. Start the morning by thinking that this day gonna be a calm and relaxing day. 🙏

Nuts are full of PUFAs. Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids. High storage in fat cells shorten the life span. But it looks like almonds are lower in PUFAs than others -->”It is a calorie-dense food but also nutrient-dense with the majority of its fat being monounsaturated. One ounce provides about 165 calories, 6 grams protein, 14 grams fat (80% monounsaturated, 15% polyunsaturated, and 5% saturated), 6 grams carbohydrate, and 3 grams fiber.”

I get this tension behind my neck and head, sometimes it on one side of my temple and I gained weight. All these things only started since this pandemic and I'm out of a job.

I know someone who is under extreme stress for many reasons, including having to look after elderly parents who have dementia. She has severe upper back pain, runs fever sometimes and gets very tired. She said her last check up was good (blood work). Could her pain and fever be from stress ? ( She also has bouts of diarrhea).

Yes! Caretakers are under constant stress with very little relief. If anyone can help her, she needs at least 1 day per week to herself. I take care of my mom, and have found that long daily walks help. When my mother is going through a bad period, then I skip my walks. And I get all of these symptoms and find myself craving carbs. I have nothing by sympathy for your friend. Period let her know that she's not alone.

This slow breathing is VERY effective though, don't get caught up with the pace of intake, holding etc

If someone is having stomach aches every day, they should go to the doctor. I missed a lot of school as a child. I was diagnosed with having a spastic colon in the 5th or 6th grade. There was a kid in my second grade class that got an ulcer because the teacher was so terrible.
