A quick tip to stop a leg/foot cramp when it begins......just above your upper lip there are accupressure points. Use your index & 2nd fingers & press gently in this area a few times. keep doing it until the cramp subsides. Works for me in less than a minute. Been using it now for 1.5yrs. Now I'm going to try the ACV a few hrs before I go to bed & see if it stops me getting the cramps. I'm female & 73yrs, so hope this works. Tks Bob&Brad for the tip.

It's not their fault- it's because colleges and medical schools don't thoroughly educate people on these matters. OK, So I'm a type 2 diabetic doing a keto feeding pattern and I use ACV to make a drink at night. I have a 30 oz travel mug that I put a jigger of ACV, a jigger of lemon juice, and a couple drops of liquid stevia and fill the mug with water from the sodastream. I also take a potassium and magnesium pill in the mornings. When I get a cramp in my hamstring or calf, in bed in the mornings, all I have to do is stand up and it goes away almost immediately. I am getting fewer cramps with this approach but I still get a few. They mostly happen if I stretch really hard putting the muscles in tetanus for a few seconds. I have also found that if I use an electrolyte powder in the drink that is sweetened with stevia in place of the liquid stevia, I have fewer cramps. There is a trick to mixing the drink, fill the mug half way with the carbonated water, add everything and when it settles down add the rest of the water slowly.

I am 60 year old female and had problems with foot cramps but more problems with restless legs at night. I ordered the Amish tonic. I have to say that I had my doubts if that stuff would work but it did. I had the worst case of RLS a few nights ago that got me out of bed several times and walking around didn’t seem to help it like it usually does. Resting my legs on a heating pad helped some. Then about 5:00 in the morning that I suddenly remembered that I bought the bottle of tonic so I decided to try it and I was shaking my head thinking this probably won’t work. I mixed a capful with a cup of water and drank it (it didn’t taste bad) and about 5 minutes later my legs felt better and I could finally get some sleep. I couldn’t believe it. I just couldn’t believe it but I was very glad it did. I only wished that I had thought to use it at 2:00 in the morning when all my trouble started. I have taken it before bedtime 3 nights in a row now and I haven’t had any RLS in the night plus I have slept so good. I just mix it with some apple juice and it tastes better. Thanks for doing this video because it helped me.

Lisa try this for something really fast working. Keep a bottle of dill pickles in your refrigerator and as soon as you feel the pain start or if you get a forewarning that one is building in your leg, grab the bottle of pickles and a spoon and drink a small amount of pickle juice (try 1 TBS) and I kid you not, the cramp stops in seconds! Mine stopped so fast that I was in disbelief! It literally stopped within seconds of hitting my tongue! My doctor told me about it as did my ex husband. My doctor was from Texas and told me they used this during football practice in the hot summer heat to stop cramps the players were getting. It truly is a fast miracle!

I went through many medical tests with various doctors and no one could help me. After trying many methods and meditations I found magnesium! It changed my life! I take oral magnesium everyday which has seriously minimized my cramping and also made a magnesium spray out of magnesium flakes and water in a spray bottle. It instantly works! Know what else works for cramps. Epsom salt. Epsom salt is magnesium. Put some in the bath water or a foot bath or just put some in a squirt bottle with water and it will relieve cramps. Not necessarily in 30 seconds but it works. A sign of magnesium deficiency is cramping. Our body needs magnesium as much as calcium for body functions like brain and heart etc. Magnesium can be taken in supplement form too. There are different types of magnesium supplements and certain ones might cause diarrhea if taking too much. Don't take Epsom salt internally unless you need a laxative. Milk of magnesia is magnesium mostly. Remember the old commercials about "Doan's pills" and they were for backaches? When you looked on the ingredients you saw the difference between Doan's and regular aspirin or analgesic was magnesium and that's why it worked for backaches. Magnesium is a fascinating mineral to read about. Inform yourself by looking it up.

Brad and Bob---great show, thank you for all of your videos. I just read at least one hundred posts. The majority of people praise and agree with the use and success of ACV. A little drink or a little application or a swish in your mouth all seem to work. I intend to try it. My focus is on my method of relieving my major calf cramps. I get them nightly, three or four times a night. The intense pain forces me up, I sit on the side of the bed. My toes on the floor, at this point my heels will not reach the floor due to the cramping. My heels are about two inches off the floor. I would be doing major muscle damage if I forced my heel to the floor, believe me, I know, I've done it one time before. So I slowly attempt to make my heels reach the floor using a slight push, push, push movement. My calf is tight, as the heel slowly begins to lower, I will then feel a strange sensation as the tightness is released. It can be described as a whooshing release. After that, there is no lasting pain, but the cramp will return in a couple hours. This is the only method that works for me. I hope that it will be helpful to others. Sorry for this being so long.

I have been taking that product for years. I also use a tee spoon of Brags apple cider vinegar for acid back lash (Gerd). Apple cider vinegar stops the Gerd immediately. The leg cramp product takes a minute or two to work. I learned about this stuff from Dr Berg. His explanation is that the apple cider vinegar taken regularly drives the calcium build up out of your cells. Calcium is for contraction of the muscle and magnesium is for relaxing the muscles. So, take a magnesium supplement for relaxing the muscle and add apple cider vinegar to reduce the calcium build up in your muscles. I am 70 but I still get those cramps after cutting down trees, bucking the tree, loading the rounds, unloading the rounds and splitting the rounds. If I do more than 2 cords a day (Doug Fir or other pine), I get the cramps anyway so I take the TREE product and it stops the cramps. I get them on the inside of my thighs. It used to be so bad that I passed out from the pain...

I think "scrambled" brain impulses do cause some cramps. The vinegar can be absorbed by the mouth tissue and can reach the brain stem pretty quickly. The change in acidity probably shocks the nerve to stop sending the signal. Others with poor circulation have ankle and feet cramps because those are extremities that are undernourished due to poor blood flow. Increasing acidity levels with ACV along with supplemental minerals and electrolytes can help these people also. Mixing two teaspoons of ACV in water 2 or 3 times a day can increase the body's acidity level which helps the absorption of calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium, and sodium. These things help nerves work properly and the high acidic body PH allows for better absorption of them. Following this regimen daily or bi-daily can make nocturnal feet and ankle cramping go away in some people altogether. Others might need just magnesium or vitamin d supplements. I follow Dr. Berg here on KZbin and he has an excellent video on nocturnal cramping.

I hope this might helps someone who reads it to untangle the mystery. I used iron cookware pans for 40 years until I realized it was causing me to have iron overload. It's dangerous for the heart so it got my attention. After menopause or in the case of men, there is no way to eliminate excess iron. It really messes up the electrolytes. It can cause calcium re-absorption from bones and teeth. I have to take a lot of magnesium and rub it on my legs at night to hopefully have a pain free sleep. I recently read that it could be, exactly what the pharmacist said, a neurological mix up that causes signals to go to the legs and feet. I am going to try this! Thank you. P.S. If you might have iron overload, first, get rid of your cast iron pans. There is treatment.

I frequently experience leg cramps after a hard workout on my bicycle. And yes, I have experienced the two-legged cramp stagger to the kitchen in the middle of the night while expressing words from my "special vocabulary". I discovered the apple cider vinegar remedy a few years ago. It works every time for me. But the taste, ugh! When I have painful cramps at night, I usually don't take time to measure 1 tablespoon into 4 ozs of water. I just pour some vinegar in a glass and add enough water so that I don't gag while drinking it. I have also tried drinking lime juice right out of the bottle. It is easier to get down and also works to relieve cramps but is not quite as effective as vinegar. Now that I know the proper ratio of vinegar to water, I will premix the two and store it in the fridge for the next time I have nighttime cramps. The theory that leg cramps are possibly due to a bad signal from the brain was interesting, I had not heard that before. Thanks for the presentation and information.

I am here to tell you that 'Stops Leg Cramps' really works. I use to have leg cramps on a regular basis. When I found this stuff and started using it, it was amazing!! The bottle says you can apply it directly to the cramp or take it orally. During the time I was experiencing cramps on a regular basis I would take a dose every night before I went to bed and it would prevent the cramps from even happening. I figured it's much better not to have the cramp begin than to have a cramp and then have to get up (with the pain) and treat it. It's about $10. a bottle so I believe it's better to take it orally than to splash it on the cramp topically, plus you get the added benefits of the ACV when taken orally.

It's about $7-8 a day, and I consider that to be very affordable, compared to the alternative! Also, I have not been to see a doctor for probably 8 years, and that was for a slight injury. He was saying that it is neurological in nature. Another thing will sometimes work is while having a cramp, pinch your tongue. This will interrupt (just as he said) the pain but send a milder ,controlled pain to your brain. The brain will sense that pain instead of the leg cramp. I've done it. And, you don't have to get up out of bed.

I find it difficult to believe it's a soley a nerve thing where putting something in the mouth gives the brain something different to process. Otherwise, water, chewing gum, or any other stimuli should also work. I theorize that it may be that highly aciditic products like apple cider vinegar, pickle juice, and the like trigger a response that draws mineral activity through muscle into the blood immediately as part of homeostasis. Cramps in legs generally happen on an empty stomach. Liquid acid is quick to enter the blood. The quickest mineral access for homeostasis of blood pH is likely going to come from muscles, and most likely the longer muscles, such as in the legs. Sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium all play a role in muscle/nerve impulses as well as blood pH. Calcium & magnesium are stored in muscle fibers. Sodium and potassium play roles in communication and coordination of nerve impulses and coordination. Mineral exchanges also play a part in pH throughout all body parts. I'm thinking it is a shift in minerals as the body tries to maintain proper blood pH after suddenly drinking something acidic or salty that forces the contraction imbalance (cramp) to terminate. Just my hypothesis. None of this explains why cramps happen though....

The scrambled brain impulse theory is an interesting one. There's a TON of information on the KZbin about ACV benefits for your gut health. Lots of it comes from keto people. It's like a probiotic for the gut. Older people have less acid with aging. Therefore acid reflux can become a problem. Taking ACV with the "mother" or lemon juice will help with the acid level in the gut. When you don't have the right acid level you can't absorb nutrients from foods. Older people that go for a colonoscopy are allowed to take their meds with a small amount of water before the procedure. I've seen the pictures of all the colored pills still in the stomach undissolved by the time they have the procedure. You can put ACV in your water and sip it throughout the day. You can add ginger or cinnamon because they will mask the taste of the ACV. Don't spend a ton of money on some fancy bottle of this stuff at the hardware store. Buy ACV unfiltered from the grocery store for much less money and add it to a bottle of ice tea perhaps (which is how I do it). Lastly, if you eat a late supper and go to bed you might get gerd or acid reflux from the food. Taking the ACV or lemon juice in water or something before bed will keep you from burping your supper up in the night and possibly aspirating that gunk into your lungs creating another problem.

My foster mom learned to eat a banana for leg cramps when she was a missionary in Africa. I do the same. Tell you what, when I skip it for breakfast I am feeling it by the end of the day! Hubby has to run out and get me a banana. Within 5 minutes I’m fine again. So, what does ACV and bananas have in common?

No see I was told the potassium in bananas helps relieve them too!

There's actually a lot of foods higher in potassium than bananas. 1 medium banana has 422mg of potassium or 9% daily value. A cup of white beans has twice that at 829mg or 18% daily value. Even a small white baked potato has 738mg or 16% daily value of potassium. So if you're out of bananas, there's other foods you can eat instead and actually get MORE potassium! 😋

I just had leg cramp in both legs about two hours ago and it was so bad I called my wife because I feel on the floor and when she got home she gave me some mustard and she helped me up. But the last two hours it was wanting to cramp up again. I have appel cider vinegar and I trying it and it all went away in about 30 seconds. Thank you I'm a trucker and sitting up to 12 hours a day and I'm going to start back on it everyday again because of you folks Thank you

My doctor has me taking extra Magnesium(citrate). It seems to be helping. At age 68, I also take two tablets of Calcium a day.

I am on day 3 of covid and feel better today, however I am having cramps all over my body like i have never had before! I have been drinking water all day and took magnesium with no relief. My former husband suggested eating a pickle so I ran to the kitchen and no pickles! I did find sweet pickle relish and downed 2 TBS of it. Immediately the cramps stopped COLD! I am in shock that it worked but even more so that it stopped the pain IMMEDIATELY! I am forever having pickles in my house!!! This was truly amazing! These cramps were so bad and moving all over my body that I was literally afraid I could have a heart attack.

Pickle juice works in 30-60 seconds for me, every time. So the sourness tripping something neurological may be a guess in the right direction. I've tried to start pre-emptively using epsom salt soaks or a couple of tbsp of ACV with a cup of water an hour before bedtime. All seem to work for me.

I'm seeing a lot of comments saying that mustard works too so there really does seem to be something to the sour theory hahah interesting!

That’s what I have used too. Pickle juice just a couple spoonful worked for me. So does magnesium capsule. Might be placebo effect.

Interesting, people use pickle juice, mustard, and now ACV for cramps. The common theme here is vinegar.

A friend came rushing into another friend's house one day and made a beeline for the fridge where she hurriedly gulped down 2-3 tablespoons of pickle juice. Her leg cramps were gone in less than a minute. I have done it myself. It seems to be your choice of dill or sweet pickle juice. Both work.

Maybe I’m the odd one out, but acv GAVE me the worst cramps I’ve ever experienced. Painful enough to make me cry. Tried it two times to be sure that’s what was causing my muscles to spasm and cramp severely. The only remedy that works for me is pickle juice. Everyone thinks that’s crazy, but I recently watched a show on RAGBRAI (bike ride across Iowa) and they have pickle juice stands available for riders so it’s real 😊

Apple Cider Vinegar helps balance PH levels and has a lot of uses. We’re never without it in the cupboard but this is new use for us. I used to put a slug of it in my bath water when I suffered persistent thrush in hot weather. It also helps, taken with water, to calm acid reflux of the stomach. Don’t ask how! It just balances up that acid/alkali stuff!

One of the elderly ladies at my church told me to use a couple of teaspoons of mustard. I will try the apple cider vinegar.
