In 2016 they made it illegal on state managed land in Kansas. Might just be okay because it's the river.
@ryankincaid21462 жыл бұрын
@@christourtillott9574 every river is considered public even if the land is private on both sides. That's why he said they had to go through private access. That's why you're allowed to fish on them anywhere you want while in a boat. In this case though they are on the river bed and it's going back to the fact it's private land on each side.

I got 780 acres of private property in Oroville CA and we noticed the woodies fill the sky right before first light when the birds start chirping then 9am - 11am they jump and move to different feeding spots. They talk alot at first light and they don't talk at all during their second flight. They do talk alot right before sun down though

Not sure how I feel about fishing or hunting guides on public water. Think there’s a line between a fishing guide and a hunting one using public land, especially in the Midwest, East, or South

I am glad you found out via Gerald that you can go back to your roots and guide more on the rivers close to home. Got to love a good mixed bag of birds, even though it wasn’t shown in the video I know that it’s the thumbnail and probably on Instagram

Does no one have issue with a guide getting paid to hunt on public land?
@Mobbin3442 жыл бұрын
dude i was about to comment this. How do you charge someone to hunt public land?
@mchenryjeremy2 жыл бұрын
They provide the services of scouting, providing equipment (decoys, blinds, chairs) setting out decoys, brushing/setting up blind, retrieving birds, etc. Most people just want to shoot. They either don't know or want to do the work it takes to get there. They don't care if it's private or public lands. They just want to kill. Lastly, sometimes, public lands are the only option that is available where birds are. And some guys just guide strictly on public land. Public lands have some of the best spots for birds, but you have to scout hard and get up before everyone else to best them to that spot.
@Mobbin3442 жыл бұрын
You can see in every video the clients also put out decoys. I dont know a single waterfowl guide that hunts public land with clients. And I know a shit ton in multiple states. I’m not saying you can’t do it or guys don’t do it. I would just be on the side that agrees you probably shouldn’t be charging someone the amounts they are to take someone to a river that they could’ve set up on for free..
@peterbalzer66292 жыл бұрын
@@mchenryjeremy Just because its legal doesn't mean you should. Kansas is 98% private land making it one of the most privately held states. Bobby goes onto explain what he is doing is legal and I understand its legal. . . My point is he has thousands (maybe even 10k) of acres leased to hunt and he chose to utilize a public resource for profit.
@mchenryjeremy2 жыл бұрын
@Peter Balzer maybe that's where the birds are.... as stated in my comment. I know tons of guys who guide publicly, though I don't hunt with guides...

The only difference between B-G hunts and Phil Robertson's hunts is that after PR's group fires 16 shots, all four of the flock of 4 birds that came in are on the water....and when BG's group fires 16 shots at a flock of four, three fly away. Okay, maybe not the only difference........

So you can guide on the river which I'm assuming is public, but you cant utilize public parking???... Waterfowl hunting has got to be the only hunting that consists of 1 million laws but your only aware of the laws that are printed in the booklet you get while purchasing a license. And then to top it all off the laws come down to how each and every officer interprets them. Loving the river videos by the way!

Wood duck and Merganser fly together all the time. You likely saw wood ducks, but they shot the merg lol
@traviskroll4172 жыл бұрын
No they don't
@mchenryjeremy2 жыл бұрын
@Travis Kroll yes they do, at least in SouthEast Texas they do pretty often... those Merganser and Wood duck often dump their eggs into existing nests of each other, so wood duck hens will raise Merganser chicks and vice-versa for the Merganser hens raising wood duck chicks. If you don't believe me a simple Google search can show you..... Oftentimes, if you're shooting into a group of 3 or more wood ducks, there is a Merganser or two flying with them, especially on the private cypress flat I once had access to. I would shoot my limit of woodies and my 2 hooded Merganser drakes in 30 minutes nearly every trip. So, that's my point about what happened in the video. They shot at wood ducks, as Bobby identified them as woodies, and one of them knocked down the Merganser.... not hard to identify a group wood ducks flying, but you can miss seeing the Merganser as their tail lengths look the same and both ducks have the similar hood like shape head when flying.
