My dad had a ls6 ‘70 Chevelle SS when I was born…. It was beautiful Baby blue, white stripes, white interior. I grew up hearing stories about my dad’s exploits in that car… I never really knew how special it was until recently. *Edit: I failed to mention that he had bought it new……

Definitely! I got, as my first car at 18 in 1980, its lesser known sister, a 1970 Monte Carlo SS 454 black over red. It had already been modded with performance cams and fuel delivery systems and was a beast to drive with barely containable torque but relatively subpar brakes. Fortunately, I survived but never should have sold it.

My friend's mom had a early 70's Chevelle Malibu 4 door when I was in high school in the mid 90's. I loved that car. Between that, their next door neighbor's hot rod Nova, and my mom's late 70's Dodge Aspen, I pretty much became a car guy. I was always interested in cars. But being able to ride in these 3 cars pretty much got me obsessed. Every time they were being worked on, I was right there watching and trying to help. If it wasn't for those cars, it's hard to tell where I'd be now. I definitely wouldn't be working in a body shop and customizing every vehicle I own.

My Mom bought a used '72 Chevelle around '76. 350. Nice car. I bought a '70 with a 307 in '80 after my '69 Charger got totalled. Right away i got a set of headers and dual exhaust, rally wheels and painted the grill black. Oh well,,, at least it looked and sounded good ;)

@@ThisOldCarChannel thanks again. I couldn't help but notice your logo has a '74 Trans Am. I had a '74 and a '76 and right now I have a '72 Firebird Espirts. One of the early Norwood pre strike car's. The original engine which I still have is a '71 so my car is an early '72 where they used some leftover '71 part's. I have a 400 out of a Trans Am with GTO heads. I'm the third owner and know the compete history of the car. I used to see it since 1978 and never thought they would sell it but they got in a bind and I bought it in 1999. It needs restored but has the original interior, carpet etc. I've driven it 3 times this week and it never falls to turn heads. I'm in a financial bind and am waiting for a settlement to pay off so I can give it a decent restoration and enjoy driving it as long as I can. I would love to see a story about the Pontiac Firebird's that had the small rear window. And then '74 and '75's. But I have liked or loved all you videos and share them with my car buddies. Thumbs up!!!

I think Impala was their most popular. You're basing this on sales numbers correct? Anyway Chevelles are awesome and you could easily do one Chevelle video for each generation Chevelle, making note with each video of sales figures, engine options, and what it was competing against. Just offering something for the suggestion box for when you're considering topics for a new video - a video for each generation would get my attention every time because each would presumably offer more specifics...

The basic Chevelle in coupe form/shape was especially beautiful. Even some Ford people can agree. In four door it became quite unattractive. I guess this was intentional? I remember being a kid and very disappointed with the 1973 style change. It's a shame that so many of these cars were ruined, like my dad's, because of assembly line worker anger after the strike. If you can find a coupe intact rebuilding them from the frame up is a great idea. It is then possible to have a better car than in 1972. Nice modern crate motor included.

Half of a million dollars will get you an ls6 one of 3200 that was made. Today they can keep them cars, you wont be able to drive them anyway they will be million dollar cars. I'll stick with a basic chevelle with 350,plenty of fun. You can have an SS or not, dont matter to me. People want the big blocks. Still if you are after the money and rich they want the ls6 but for style, the chevelle is a beautiful autombile. 454 is a monster engine, also the 396 too but I dont want a boat anchor in the front of my car that weighs 600 pounds. or more. I'd rather go with a sbc to come out of the hole quick enough, less weight,go with like a 327 or 350 or go with a ls1 type setup like a 5.3 or 6.0 ls2 in the chevelle with 450 hp,aluminum heads and block,410,456 gears for drag racing.
