thought of making your own urethane bushings? you can choose the hardness and even dye them... works well in silicone candy/cake molds for custom shapes like yours. i reckon that weight balance has to be at least 64/36 to the rear... i’d bias it more but those are long boi batteries, i’m curious to see the result ;¬)

I've done a couple body/frame swaps. Always just lifted the body high enough to roll the chassis under it. First time with just a floor jack, 2 12' 4x4s and a bunch of material to support the 4x4s with as I jacked it up bit by bit. Then I discovered camper jacks. A trip to the local rental yard and it made the job so much easier.

The first thing my grandfather did when he bought a house was to excavate the garage floor for a maintenance pit. The 2nd thing he did was to raise the garage ceiling and reinforce it with steel beams (actually lengths of railroad track - he was a railroad engineer; I never asked him which stretch of track had a 16-foot gap in it). Not gonna guess about the weight distribution. No matter what it is, you'll wind up having to change it :-) Every time I see you potentially impinge upon the battery, I think "this has about the same energy as 15 gallons of gasoline, all ready to erupt in milliseconds". Cheery thought!

Your MkV: This is about the state of 1950 British car design that you mention. An uncle owned a '48 Jaguar MkIV drophead in the 1960's. Both cars are essentially 1939-ish tech, due to the war. After WWII, "[Jaguar] production was ressurrected by reintroducing the pre-war range in largely unchanged form. The pre-war SS 2.5 litre saloon, with some minor changes, became the post-war Mark IV." On the 1948 Jaguar Mark V: "In Sept. 1948 Jaguar announced its first new post-war, stop-gap model, the Mark V, which would carry the company’s fortunes for a couple of years. The main innovation was the adoption of independent front suspension, conceived by Chief Engineer, William Heynes." And the giant chrome headlamps were faired into the fenders, somewhat. Quotes are from Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust website. Carry on!

Matt, for a real, bona fide, diploma on the wall engineer, you have a real affinity for sketch. Actually, using the engine hoist was a very good idea. Within the hoist's capacity and design- Archimedes would have approved! I could see you driving it down the street, no front fenders, hood, radiator or back fenders-On M' Gawd!!! I did manage to keep my chair from going over, but it was funny, huh? Merely a couple double double handfuls of small, insignificant details to work out! To that I say-- Remember the engine hoist! Your personal petard! Congrats- huge piece of work and step for Jag. Have you named the beast yet? SuperfastMatt's Obsession, SMO for short? FR

You need to channel the body over the frame to eliminate the “jacked rear” appearance. The old body’s sit really high naturally, all the hot rodders channel, section, and chop the bodies to get that hot rod look. I’ve been wanting to do a similar electric powered build to my ‘32 4 door. I’m looking forward to watching your build!
