BMW uses cold bonding and fixture plates to hold the NEW panel in place. They do as little cutting in the smallest area possible. Its all prescribed in the BMW Repair procedures. What you just watched was a HACK fucking job! Every weld will rust in three years. BMW approved shops GUARANTEE 12 years of NO RUST for the repair seams! FACT! This is Horse shit work by hacks, I Always ask the shop what they are going to do to proceed on ANY job I send to them! PERIOD! If its not with MFG. Protocol I walk out and don't look back! And Yes I WELD, for 30 years now, TIG, GAS, MIG, Stick I am doing new 1M rear quarters on my 135i so I can get the larger wheels and tire with the custom offset once all is in place. It will be BONED, then two types of rivets are used, and special BMW branded adhesives and curing lights The cut points are in the procedure manuals if the shop is Truly BMW Certified if there is no rust guarantee for 12 years they are not using official procedural processes, products or labor that is TRAINED TO USE THEM properly!

Ok, just a few things. I'll point out the obvious. The axle stand goes under before the wheel is taken off. If that Jack fails he has his head under the vehicle. You never use a disk cutter that way, if it fails it sound into your face. Have a buddy with a very ugly scar caused this way. He isn't using a spot weld drill bit, but a regular drill bit which just makes i mess of it. Just look at the body weight he is putting into drilling because he's using a shirty old drill with a blunt incorrect drill bit. If he slips those latex gloves ain't gonna help alot. Doesn't heat up at panel support foam points to replace and bond. For some stupid reason he is joining the rear wing at its widest low point, not higher up towards roof at thin section which requires a hell of less body filler. And we bond and river them, as per factory specs... But if your going to do it this way it's just untidy.
