Went all out on weighted dips today and threw in incline DB press or the chest shelf. Combo of low rep/ hi weight on dips and hi rep / low weight on Incline. Watch like subscribe why don't you :)

@@Rory96inthahouse I’ve just started back after an absence of 2 years and managed 110kg bench (40kgs down ) and hoping to increase 10kgs a month . What sort rate of increase are you managing or aiming for?

Hi Barry. Rob in Adelaide Another impressive video. Strong dips my man. Looking on target for the 160 for sure. Yes, its hard to get the bench set up feeling right. I have tried 3 different ones in recent times. It needs to be a strong not so cushioned bench especially heading to the weight s that you do. Cant feel like a water bed lol. You are a warrior for sure in that cold temp old school home gym.

Thanks Rob. 160kg still seems way off but I've still got 3-4 weeks

@@barrythomsonlifts Keep on it Barry. I reckon with a firmer bench and the safety bar set up you will get very close. Its abit of a shame you haven't got a spotter around for when you get closer to 160 as i reckon on a strong day with plenty of food and good rest you will be getting very close. Anyhow thats a perfect world right. Keep on doing what yuo do its great to see.

If u have shoulder pain u should look up ways to strengthen external rotators of the shoulder. This is a common problem with excessive pressing etc
@barrythomsonlifts2 ай бұрын
I get it alot from incline barbell bench
@getmassive9992 ай бұрын
@ also check the mobility of the internal rotators, have a look at the sleeper stretch and try it to test for imbalances

You start with 27.kg dumbbells without warming up and wonder why you have a niggle? 😂 You should first warm up with mobility exercises for the muscles you are about to train. For chest and shoulders, it’s also important to activate the muscles of the upper back which helps to prevent impingement prior to pressing movements. Look up the lock big 3 activation exercise. It’s really good and almost eliminated my shoulder issues. Also be sure to warm up the rotator cuffs.

Had niggle before 27.5kg and before session started mate

Why are you hitting the Dumbells together? You shouldn’t do that….you want to keep them on constant tension plus you will hurt shoulders doing it that way … don’t let them touch… and if your so cold just turn on a heater.🤷🏻♂️
@barrythomsonlifts2 ай бұрын
There fine hitting together. Its a touch and not losing tension due to it. I like bringing them inside shoulder width but do agree some tension is lost this way for sure
