45years ago today I landed in Las Palmas to start my two week honeymoon. Got there on a Freddie Laker BAC 111 from Gatwick.

@@AviationHubOfficial loved it, our hotel was in Playa del Ingles, also went to Puerto Rico harbour and saw a huge shark that had been caught by some fishermen. Would be nice to go back one day. Thanks for the videos.

For the casual viewers here, I compiled a short summary of why this is fascinating. To everyone, please feel free to fact check me or add in more details :) - The bottom left panel is the cockpit weather system. At approximately 5:33, the numbers 203*/6 pops up. This indicates a wind direction of 203 degrees and speed of 6 knots. The values continue to spike and peaks to about 260 degrees and 21 knots. - The bottom right panel is the Primary Flight Display. Details that are important in this context are the pitch, roll and air speed which is the value in the left box. This clip is fascinating, because despite the spikes in wind speed and direction, the pilot is able to maintain incredible control over the aircraft which is evident by the movements of the pitch and roll indicators. Or in this instance the lack thereof. This may appear to be a boring clip, but don't be deceived. This is a great display of airmanship. PS I'm just a casual viewer and was confused about what's happening. This is just a quick google and quora search so i'm not 100% on this.

@@737simviator Lol.. yeah.. I was thinking the same thing... some great piloting... by the AUTOpilot!

Sure the folks had their guards up! AutoThrottle is way to slow to react in this kind of situations. Also speed brakes only come up automatically at touchdown (in armed position) and was definitely used almost as a primary flight controller 🎮 keep up the good work!

I guess you would agree with me, we are smart working people, if the autopilot is doing its job, and as you can probably see it is, then let it do so; you can take control over the aircraft anytime if it is doing something you don't like; and most of the time that is the Autothrottle not really compensating quickly enough for wind changes and therefore increasing or decreasing thrust on the engines! :) If you want to see some manual actions there are some other videos on the channel!! :)
