Quite recently, Boeing reached a massive new tentative agreement affecting over 33,000 of its employees. In its statement on the deal, Boeing revealed it plans to build its next airliner in Washington. While no further details on this new aircraft were disclosed, many in the industry had been anticipating that Boeing would develop its New Midsize Airplane (NMA) - something sized between its 737 MAX 10, and 787-8 Dreamliner. Thinking logically, the designation for a new commercial aircraft is expected to be 797. Let’s look at the details of the new agreement for today’s video…

UPDATE/CLARIFICATION: This video was produced when a tentative agreement between Boeing and the union had been reached. However, the most recent development is that workers have voted to reject that agreement, instead voting to strike.

This feels tactical, not organic. Like someone engaged in the tentative agreement just to pull the rug out. To be clear, I am not blaming one side or the other. I actually would like to see a channel bring in more information and maybe a 3rd party who can help navigate the hearsay. Everyone is very likely to just point at management and say they are evil, but I have seen workers be so toxic they “fling their wooden shoes into the machines” Maybe even both. …Meanwhile at the Railroad Industry: Hahahahaha you called us Obsolete!

Boeing did not announce a new aircraft. They said that IF they announced a new aircraft withing the four year time frame of the proposed 4 year contract THEN said aircraft would be built in Washington. Right now Boeing has dug itself such a giant hole it will not be in a position to build a new aircraft for at least 10 years. This video is extremely deceptive.

@Locutus

757s have been out of production for 2 decades now. The people who worked on them are retired, retiring or not with Boeing. The supply chain for the 757 needs to be reactivated. That will take years for it to happen. And even if the staff and supply chain were there, would the FAA even allow the 757 to enter service again as is? Or would it require Boeing to bring the aircraft up to modern safety standards? The 767 is dead as a passenger aircraft, it's relegated to cargo duties. It might be able to fill a niche in the MMA, but it's not cost effective to buy a 767 when you have more versatile aircraft. Again, any new versions of the 767 might have to meet modern safety standards.

It's management having workers from 4 different subcontractors building planes at a break-neck pace, to save money for bloated executive salaries. Union workers have to fix every 787 built by non-union workers in SC before the plane can be delivered to the customer.

Ironically a strike for a few months is in favor of Boeing. I thought that you are a Boeing fan, but you are not following Boeing news enough. I give 80% chance that you will completely delete this comment. That is what you always do when you are wrong, which is almost always the case 😉

@@user-yt198The strike costs Boeing $108 million a day. No, it's not to their benefit at all.

797 = 787 in costume with new technology, nothing new. Why would airlines buy the 797 when A321XLR have the same range, lower price, weight and fuel consumption when 787 cost less than 797? Which airline want to be suicidal to buy newer and expensive airplane when you have cheaper alternative and does it better?

How do you know what 797 will be? Mind you, it is not NMA, it is 797 just because it is the next free type number.

Look at your governor and AG for the definition of fascism. Texas can't keep their power grid from collapsing, how you going to build jets?

The main reason for building it in WASHINGTON is workers from other states are NOT FIT and LACK OF KNOWLEDGE enough to build an airplane. Most of the workers from other states don't even know how to build a burger less an airplane. That is why the problem in SOuth Carolina persist when we lost a mass amount of people with 10 plus year knowledge leaving for the AIRLINES. AIRLINES TOP WAGES OF $75-80 an hour within 5 year. Boeing employees can't even top out $35/hr in 5 years. And don't talk about benefits. Strike at Washington is caused by boeing paying people PEANUTS.

Lol. Yeah washington has a monopoly on building planes. Thats why they have a stellar reputation. Keep it up! Not really tho.

the 777 had a 18 year fatality free record.the a320 had a 1 year fatality record.so it can be a long or short time.(the a320 crashed partly because of airbus automation problems,which is why i like boeings better)

If we want to be fair, the 737max will be the last 737. So they have to make a new clean sheet aircraft. 737max is already 10 years old. Its half of it expected production life. A 797 need to be presented with in a year. Really less than that realistically. The new aircraft need to be modern. So my guess would be pretty much a scaled down 787. Basically put it in the photo copier at scale 60% and you got a 797. This might actually be easier to certify with less legacy technology to re-certify

So many words…so much bs. 1. You talk about “clean sheet” then about “scaled down”, you don’t see the contradiction? 2. Why would 20 years be the expected production time? Couldn’t you make it even more arbitrary? 3. “This might actually be cheaper”, than a “clean sheet design” that you referred to as an absolute necessity? The 777X is an example why a redesign isn’t necessarily cheap(er)

Most likely been the plan for a while, but not until the 787 platform would be mature and any issues sorted out.
