It breaks my heart to see such a beautiful lock destroyed...but realize it's for science! I feel fairly confident that my Rock and Pewag will be safe, unless the perp carries around a vise and angle grinder! Thanks for the real world testing.

What would you suggest is the best storage outdoor locker cold, rain, hot, dry weather lock for a storage unit?
@joetuktyyuktuk86352 жыл бұрын
If the storage unit is made from shipping containers I would recommend the Rotalock, as that is a lock designed for that purpose. If the storage unit is a typical type with roll up door I would recommend the ASA RUKO 4-5, very stout lock, pick resistant and protected shackle.

I have some old Best padlocks. The shackle looks to be 3/8" thick. I couldn't cut one with a pair of Rigid 36" bolt cutter. A piece of the bolt cutter jaw chipped off and went flying like a bullet so I quit.
@TheGeezzer5 жыл бұрын
Wow man, always wear PPE when bolt cropping or doing any torsion or tensile extremes with hardened steel! Glad to read you escaped injury, indeed hardened metal and spring steel will explode rather than shatter and shards will fly with high velocity...the bullet analogy is about right! 💥😲💨😑😒

Hi im a construction guy and just bought a box truck. Do you think that a padlock would be a good choice ? I was thinking about ABUS 83/80 i hope its going to fit. Or i have to buy some Heavy Duty Rolling Door Lock? . I would appreciate your professional opinion. Btw great videos!

What did you end up using?
@dfpguitar5 жыл бұрын
also in regards to what happened with this lock, remember than any shackle that is thick enough to be non flexible and locked on both sides, you will need to cut twice. You would also only be able to use this method if the lock was resting on the ground and you either had your ratchet rig with you or a pneumatic cutter. Better to use a circular saw for a thief.

Many thanks. Great help. What lock would be hard to use angle grinder on.🤔❓ Just bought a new bike and want to keep it safe 😊
@DonzLockz7 жыл бұрын
A grinder will cut anything. Multiple big bad ass locks is the best you can do. Basically get the biggest and strongest that will fit. Choosing a lock depends whats available in your area. This lock is good, they make a closed shacke variant available in other countries. Abus Granit, Abloy 362, Squire 83mm, Sargent and Greenleaf 951 military with ceramic rods is anti grinding and blast proof and regular bullets do nothing. Many other locks are good but again, depends where you live. 👌👍🙃

If you would have stopped at 12 min, I would have been fine with that. Then you would still have a working padlock and the bolt cutter would have gotten new "teeth" which it deserves. I suspect you since have noticed the Abus Granit 37/80 which has that protecting collar as you mentioned. I suppose it was produced after you made this video, and yes I know I am commenting on a rather old video. Pardon my wording, I'm tired.

I'd like to see these sorts of videos, but carried out in the field... Locking some gates or on a big bike chain. The thief turns up with his equipment hidden under his coat... that would be more dramatic 🔓🔓🔓

Angle grinder gets through anything. The time it takes and the noise it makes are the only deterents. Maybe if lock wasnt in vice grips it would be a little tougher?
@sorindncs6 жыл бұрын
Time it takes? Are you serious? Like......ten seconds? Did you even noticed that? Maybe noise could be a problem...but time is definetely NOT a problem....

traditional shape padlocks are poor choices for bike locks because they inherently have a lot of dead weight. Something like a PJB roundlock is much better because they barely have a body or shackle. Chains are much heavier than D locks but the weight is countered by the convenience of being able to wear a chain around your waist. which not only looks cool but feels less heavy than a lighter lock carried by other means.

Most likely this lock is too strong for any bolt cutter that a person can hand held. However it only took seconds for an angle grinder to cut through. Rating it at 10 was a bit over rated.

Several reasons for unsubscribing... 1. Videos too long. 2. Locks are never picked or shimmed. 3. Locks only get destroyed.
@SkepticTalk6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was going to say if you want to destroy them, I have a foolproof method that can be explained in 3 words: "oxygen acetylene torch". Burning at over 3,000 degrees you could cut the lock in seconds. A lot of these welding torches are portable now too.
